Job description
Purpose of Role:
As the Team Lead for Support functions to Ship Repairs projects, this person is responsible for planning, managing and deployment of manpower and relevant resources to provide support for the following functions: Painting, Cleaning, Scaffolding, Security Escort of contractors.
Responsibilities
Scaffolding Provision
- Ensure scaffolding structures meet safety standards and are built to accommodate operational needs.
- Coordinate with other departments on timely erection and dismantling of scaffolding.
Cleaning/Painting Provision
- Understanding various methods of surface preparation, coating material and industrial standards and regulations to painting works.
- Coordination of all painting/cleaning activities effectively and safely.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, maritime laws, and company policies.
- Promote a culture of safety.
- Provide training and guidance on safety practices for all department personnel
Security
- Provide manpower to escort external contractors from point to point within client's compound
- Ensure contractors' compliance on security protocols within compound
Team Leadership & Management
- Lead, manage, and mentor the production team, ensuring effective communication and cooperation across various functions.
- Set performance targets, conduct performance reviews, and provide professional development opportunities for team members.
- Manage departmental schedules, ensuring optimal staffing and resource allocation.
Resource Management
- Oversee the allocation of resources (personnel, equipment, materials) for all production tasks.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure the timely procurement of materials required for ongoing operations.
- Control department budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations without compromising quality or safety
Collaboration & Reporting
- Work closely with other department heads, Ship repair managers, and customers to ensure smooth operations and project coordination.
- Provide regular progress reports, identifying challenges and proposing solutions to senior management
Requirements
- Degree/ Diploma in Mechanical or Marine Engineering (Dip holders with 5 years relevant working experience)
- Knowledge of painting, staging operation and able to interpret technical drawings and paint specification will be advantageous
- Demonstrated ability to lead engineering projects and manage complex technical issues
- Able to deal with and communicate with both internal and external stakeholders effectively at all levels.
- Possess man-management experience to supervise and deploy workers.
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Able to commit to overtime when required
- Able to follow and implement security, safety and shipyard disciplinary protocols and guidelines
- Only Singapore Citizens will be considered for this role

- 5 days work week
- Working Hours: 7.45am-5pm
