Job Description Summary

Overall responsibility for formulating, strategizing and executing Manufacturing strategies for Medical Procedural System (MDS) business. Key focus will be to continue transitioning identified plants to be significant WW suppliers for BD WW Business, developing Plant Positioning for each MDS plant in Greater Asia (GA) and developing manufacturing technologies to support future needs and enable high growth for MDS Business in Greater Asia.

The incumbent will provide leadership to all MDS manufacturing plants in Greater Asia, Supply Chain Operations, Continuous Improvements, ensuring a comprehensive and integrated strategy in support of both short and long term business objectives. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for driving BD Excellence across the Greater Asia regional manufacturing network with accountability for Operational Plant performance.

The incumbent will be a member of the Global MDS ISC Leadership Team and the Greater Asia ISC Leadership Team. Report Solid line to the VP of ISC, Greater Asia and dotted line to VP of ISC, MDS worldwide.

I. Key Responsibilities
  • Define and execute Manufacturing strategies, aligned with worldwide manufacturing and strategy and fully integrated with the business strategies to deliver competitive advantage through operations.
  • Understand Greater Asia (GA) Business Strategies to optimize the manufacturing, logistics, distribution and sales fulfilment to ensure the business goals are achieved.
  • Provide leadership to all Medical Procedural System(MDS) plants to effectively execute the agreed upon manufacturing strategies and ensure achievement of key financial performance and operational results/metrics including budget, quality, service, cost, safety, continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure BD’s sustainability strategies are implemented to meet GA business needs and WW operations sustainability targets through innovative product and process design.
  • Chair GA MDS Plant Leadership Meeting
  • Ensure that BD Excellence principles are embedded in all aspects of the business, foster cross-functional collaboration, and support the implementation of operational excellence strategies. Work to harmonize efforts across different business units to achieve consistent, high-quality outcomes.
  • Manufacturing Operational Excellence
  • Develop manufacturing investment plan and business case for mid to long-term strategic initiatives to meet BD GA / BD WW objectives and drive customer satisfaction.
  • Establish and publish standard policies and procedures in manufacturing & Supply Chain management
  • Implement Lean, Six Sigma & Validation initiatives to support company-wide continuous improvements and ensure they support key business objectives.
  • Ensure BD Sterilization requirements are met.
  • Integrate Procurement function within the GA manufacturing sites in order to harvest the savings from Category Management initiatives.
  • Continuously adopt and implement new technology and innovation in Manufacturing especially molding, assembly, packaging, sustainability, safety and sterilization technology.
BD Excellence
  • Develop Cost-to-win plan and business case for mid to long-term strategic initiatives to meet BD GA / BD WW objectives and drive customer satisfaction.
  • Implement Lean and Six Sigma initiatives to support company-wide continuous improvements and ensure they support key business objectives.
  • Drive BD Excellence maturity across the Greater Asia region to streamline processes, reduce waste, and enhance productivity, leading to more efficient operations. Higher maturity levels ensure consistent application of best practices, resulting in improved product quality and reliability.
Talent Management
  • Identify current and future capabilities required to support long-term growth plans.
  • Develop and implement talent management strategy and plans to strengthen leadership pipeline and upgrade overall organizational capability.
  • Take actions to increase effective associate engagement.
  • Work with HR to develop resource strategies to ensure right level and availability of manpower for Plant Expansion and BD Excellence
  • Collaborate with HR to attract and retain top talent, ensuring the right skills and expertise are in place to support BD Excellence and operational goals.
  • Foster a high-performing team culture by promoting collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
II. Key Performance Metrics/Reporting
  • Responsible for the Greater Asia region's MDS manufacturing metrics reporting and tracking of metrics.
  • Continuously evaluate the relevance of metrics and new ones being proposed.
  • Achieve continuous improvements in all key plant, people and process performance metrics.
III. Education and Experiences
  • Master’s degree preferred (MBA, MS in Supply Chain, Engineering, or Operations)
  • More than 10 years’ experience in a leadership role in Manufacturing with thorough understanding of the manufacturing strategies and the tactics.
IV. Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Working knowledge of LEAN, Six Sigma, Validation, SAP/APO. Strategic agility and business/financial acumen.
  • Track record of developing strategies and excellence in execution.
  • Strong leadership and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to operate in a highly matrix organization.
  • Strong verbal and written communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others is key.
  • Planning skills, highly analytical and ability to resolve issues.
  • Ability to lead/manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
