JOB MISSION
The Physical Security Consultant provides technical expertise in evaluating, recommending and documenting the technical and operational needs of a customer. The Consultant will conduct audits and risk assessments, create master plans, establish security standards, and develop basis of design documents. The Consultant will coordinate with and leverage the expertise and capabilities of internal and external resources to deliver world-class results. He/she must be able to adapt to and manage change, make timely decisions and lead desperate teams to drive results.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and professionally with other teams/groups/departments in Northland’s organization, including the PMO, Professional Services, Managed Services, Installation, Procurement, Finance, Information Technology and Human Resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Engagement & Consulting
- Conduct risk assessments, gap analyses, and physical security audits; prepare professional reports.
- Develop security master plans, standards, and basis of design documents.
- Advise clients on system architecture and operational improvements.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the physical security industry (video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, integrated security solutions).
- Attend industry conferences and other networking events.
- Project Management
- Manage full project lifecycle: budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, and delivery.
- Create and maintain project proposals, documentation, and progress reports.
- Coordinate internal teams and external partners to meet timelines and quality standards.
- Monitor job costs, forecast future expenses, and report on financial performance.
- Technical Expertise
- Design and specify security systems (Access Control, IP Video, Intercom, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with electrical, life safety codes, and networking standards.
- Prepare technical documentation, SOPs, and specifications.
- Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and implement best practices.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- 7+ years Security Consulting experience.
- 5+ years customer facing roles and responsibilities.
- Concentrated knowledge base in system architecture, master planning, program management, risk assessments, audits, basis of design, and devices as they relate to physical security.
- Knowledge & experience in the design and architecture of security systems (Access Control such as Lenel, Genetec, Software House; IP Video such as Genetec, Milestone, Avigilon; IP Based intercom such as 2N, Stentofon).
- Knowledge of low voltage systems (Structured cabling design (copper / fiber), relay logic design, IP networking, electrified door hardware, basic construction, electrical and life safety codes).
- Previous management experience.
- Technical understanding of networking, cyber security, and physical security systems.
- Strong technical writing skills
PREFERRED EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- ASIS PSP and/or CPP certification
