Job description
Purpose of Position

This role contributes to research-based activities in the field of emerging technologies (i.e. advanced AI models and cybersecurity) at Curtin Singapore.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Leadership & Service
  • Contribute to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment.
  • Foster and promote relationships with industry and affiliated associations, and the wider community.
Research

In conjunction with the Head of School of Science, Technology, and Engineering, agree on a program of research that may include but is not limited to:

  • Undertake high-quality research in emerging technologies.
  • Work closely with industry partners on key projects as agreed with the Head of School of Science, Technology, and Engineering.
  • Participating in applications for competitive funding as appropriate.
  • Disseminating research findings through seminars, workshops, and conferences.
  • Publishing in high-quality refereed journals in a manner consistent with disciplinary practice.
  • Where appropriate, providing effective co-supervision of research students.
Other
  • Engage in appropriate professional development and mentoring programs.
  • Undertake administrative functions associated with research activities as required.
  • Model a high standard of professional behaviour consistent with the University Code of Conduct and its Vision, Mission and Values.
  • Undertake other activities as directed by the Head of School of Science, Technology, and Engineering and/or the PVC and President.
Selection Criteria

Essential
  • A doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • Evidence of quality research outputs consistent with the discipline (relative to opportunity).
  • Demonstrated high-level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross-cultural sensitivity.
Desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise HDR students (relative to opportunity).
