Denka Life Innovation Research Private Limited (DLIR) is established in 2017 at Biopolis, Singapore, with the aim of securing the Denka Group’s first overseas research base specializing in the healthcare and life science field. DLIR’s location and setting are expected to help the company secure and nurture researchers capable of leading cutting‑edge research projects that involve collaboration with institutions around the world.

Job Description

We are seeking a junior research engineer to join our diagnostics research team in Biopolis, Singapore. The successful candidate will be working as a member of a device prototyping team under our new business development section which includes both business and research teams from Japan.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday (8:45 AM – 5:30 PM)

Duration: Contract (3 years – Renewable)

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Prototyping of app‑controlled automated small medical devices, or diagnostic platform for molecular or immunological tests.
  • Design and fabricate microfluidics devices for digital detection assays at various stages, including proof‑of‑concept, prototype design, optimisation, and validation.
  • Automated devices include systems for pneumatic & fluidic control, heater/cooler, optical sensors, microcontroller programming, camera system and GUI‑controlled app.
  • Comply with all laboratory safety standards and guidelines.
  • Ensure accurate and systematic documentation of laboratory work.
Key Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering or other related disciplines.
  • Self‑driven, highly motivated, organised and responsible individual.
  • Team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Familiar with lab operation and lab safety matters.
  • Working on‑site with cross‑functional teams.
Must have at least one of the following knowledge and experiences:
  • Utilise 3D CAD design tools (SolidWorks) and perform high precision 3D printing (FDM & DLP).
  • Utilise microcontroller boards such as Arduino, ESP32 or STM32 to build simple circuit boards for sensor control and data acquisition.
  • Experience in handling electronics and hands‑on soldering skills to assemble electronics and mechanical parts and testing; debugging of software using basic tools like Python or C++.
  • Basic programming of GUI‑controlled app for Android OS and iOS.
Highly Advantageous
  • Experience with ISO 13485 and ISO 9001.
