R&D Engineer (Intelligent Perception & 3D)
Responsibilities:
- Lead cutting‑edge research in intelligent perception and 3D technologies, leveraging both classical AI and state‑of‑the‑art generative AI approaches.
- Translate these technologies into robust solutions that tackle real‑world problems, creating advanced robotic systems and smart space solutions with tangible, high‑impact outcomes.
- Drive end‑to‑end research and development activities to meet project milestones, providing clear, timely updates and technical reports to customers and partners.
- Strengthen the organisation’s intellectual capital by inventing and filing patents, publishing high‑quality papers, and delivering compelling technical presentations at leading international conferences.
Requirements:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, AI, or a closely related field.
- Technical Expertise:
- Computer Vision & 3D Perception: Extensive experience in two or more of 2D/3D object detection, segmentation, depth estimation, SLAM, 3D reconstruction, or tracking. Skilled in designing end‑to‑end perception pipelines from data acquisition to deployment on robots, edge, or cloud. Experience with NeRF, Gaussian Splatting, or neural 3D representations is a strong advantage.
- AI, LLM & Agentic Expertise: Deep practical and theoretical knowledge of modern deep learning models including transformers and multimodal architectures. Proven track record in building and deploying applications leveraging LLMs and VLMs.
- System Design & Architecture: Expert in customizing AI/vision architectures and pipelines, optimizing for latency, throughput, and cost. Experienced integrating AI modules into broader systems (ROS2 robots, microservices, mobile/web apps) with well‑defined APIs and interfaces.
- Programming and Tools: Proficient in Python, C/C++ and Javascript programming languages. ROS2 skill is a plus. Familiarity with common vision and 3D libraries/frameworks (e.g., OpenCV, Open3D, PyTorch3D, COLMAP or similar).
- Application Experience: Experience developing and shipping AI‑powered applications on at least one of: (i) Robot platforms (industrial, mobile, or collaborative robots), (ii) Mobile (Android/iOS) or embedded/edge devices, (iii) IoT or industrial automation platforms, (iv) Cloud‑based AI platforms (e.g., using managed LLM APIs or custom‑hosted models).
- Communication Skills: Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills, including documenting architecture, design decisions, and experimental results for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Personal Attributes: Collaborative team‑player, highly motivated, fast‑learning (keeps up with the latest research), self‑confident and self‑disciplined. Demonstrated ownership mindset, with the ability to take a problem from concept through prototyping to deployment and iteration.
