We have an appetite to diversify and improve and are always looking for great new talent to bring fresh ideas and perspectives to our trading team. We are uniquely placed in the market with a combination of access to great liquidity through our market‑making desks and a progressive risk appetite to leverage upon that.

As we continue to expand our footprint in the FICC markets, we are looking for a Commodity Trader to join our team in Singapore to drive our trading strategies and contribute to the growth of our Commodities desk in the region. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast‑paced environment, where you will be responsible for analysing supply and demand dynamics, macroeconomic trends, and market fundamentals to develop and execute profitable trading strategies in global commodity markets.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Conduct in‑depth research on commodity supply and demand fundamentals, geopolitical developments, and macroeconomic factors affecting commodity prices
  • Formulate and execute profitable trading strategies based on fundamental analysis, leveraging real‑time market insights.
  • Monitor and manage the risk of the trading book, ensuring positions are within risk parameters and aligned with the firm’s objectives.
  • Work closely with research analysts, quantitative traders, and other stakeholders to gather market intelligence and enhance trading decisions.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with suppliers, producers, brokers, and other market participants to stay ahead of market trends and flows.
WHO YOU ARE
  • Strong experience in commodity fundamental trading, preferably in metals and oil markets.
  • Strong understanding of supply and demand fundamentals, including factors affecting pricing, transportation, and storage.
  • Expertise in macroeconomic analysis and how it impacts commodity markets.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with clients, counterparties, and internal stakeholders, and articulate market views and trading strategies to colleagues and senior management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment while also excelling in independent decision‑making.
  • Ability to adapt to fast‑moving markets and quickly adjust trading strategies as market conditions change.
WHAT YOU’LL GET
  • The chance to work alongside diverse, intelligent, and driven peers in a rewarding environment
  • Competitive remuneration, including an attractive bonus structure and additional leave entitlements
  • Training, mentorship and personal development opportunities
  • Gym membership plus weekly in‑house chair massages
  • Daily breakfast and lunch
  • Regular social events including an annual company trip
  • A work‑from‑home allowance and support
  • Guided relocation, a competitive relocation package and visa sponsorship where necessary.

Every person at Optiver should feel included, valued and respected, because we believe our best work is done together.

Our commitment to diversity and inclusion is hardwired through every stage of our hiring process, we welcome requests for reasonable adjustments during the process to ensure that you can best demonstrate your abilities.
