Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Singapore is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead ship design and engineering projects from concept to delivery. You will manage project plans, liaise with clients and stakeholders, and coordinate internal teams to ensure timely and budget-friendly outcomes. Qualifications

  • Proven track record of managing ship design or marine engineering projects.
  • Experience dealing with classification societies, shipyards, and marine regulatory bodies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage end-to-end ship design projects including concept, basic, and detailed design stages.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans including scope, schedules, budgets, deliverables, and resource allocations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and facilitate internal design and engineering teams.
  • Identify risks and issues, proactively develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with project requirements and relevant standards.
  • Conduct regular project reviews and prepare progress reports.
  • Monitor project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and KPIs.
  • Support contract and change order management, billing schedules, and commercial negotiations.
  • Drive continuous improvement in project execution processes.

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Project Manager to lead and manage ship design and engineering projects from concept through to delivery. As a core member of our team, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and delivering ship design projects on time, within scope, and within budget. You will liaise closely with clients, classification societies, subcontractors, and internal multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage end-to-end ship design projects including concept, basic, and detailed design stages.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans including scope, schedules, budgets, deliverables, and resource allocations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients and external stakeholders, ensuring consistent communication and updates.
  • Coordinate and facilitate internal design and engineering teams (e.g., naval architecture, structural, piping, electrical).
  • Identify risks and issues, proactively develop mitigation strategies, and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all work complies with project requirements, relevant standards, classification rules, and regulations.
  • Conduct regular project reviews and prepare progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and KPIs.
  • Support contract and change order management, billing schedules, and commercial negotiations where required.
  • Drive continuous improvement in project execution processes and cross-functional collaboration.

Desirable Attributes
  • Familiarity with IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL, and Class rules.
  • Understanding of emerging technologies such as alternative fuels, hybrid propulsion, or digital twin systems.
