Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Principal Industrial Engineer to lead and drive implementations of Industry 4.0 solutions across Collins Aerospace manufacturing sites. As a senior member of the team, you will take on a leadership role in the implementation of advanced manufacturing technologies, IoT systems, and automation solutions that drive efficiency, quality, and innovation in industrial operations. This position demands deep technical expertise, a strategic mindset, and will serve as a mentor to junior engineers while ensuring the successful delivery of complex projects. In addition, you will be a key contributor to our continuous improvement and innovation efforts, helping to shape the future of our industrial operations.

Roles and Responsibilities

Lead technical deployment initiatives and efforts in a global team to support continuous improvement of manufacturing operations with a main focus on digital twin initiatives such as factory simulation and factory scanning.

  • Lead the design and integration of Industry 4.0 technologies into new and existing systems, ensuring seamless integration and performance.
  • Lead the design and optimization of complex automation projects, ensuring high levels of efficiency and scalability.
  • Lead large scale industrial engineering projects aimed at improving manufacturing/ operational processes, increasing efficiency and productivity.
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of manufacturing/ operational sites to identify inefficiencies, performance gaps, and areas for process optimization and improvement.
  • Drives discussions with leadership teams to align engineering initiatives with business objectives and operational goals.
  • Lead and champions best practices in the development of detailed process documentation and standardization.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and systems to enhance manufacturing and operational capabilities by staying ahead of industry trends and implementing innovative solutions that drive continuous system improvement and performance.
  • Ensures compliance with industry standards and best practices in system design, deployment and maintenance.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and cross functional teams.
Qualification and Education Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial/ Mechanical Engineering or related field

Minimum years of experience in role: At least 10-12 years

Preferred Skills (if any):

  • Minimum 10–12 years of experience in industrial engineering, with experience leading large projects from proof of concept through full scale implementation.
  • Proven experience in factory simulation technology (Siemens Plant Simulation, FlexSim, Visual Components etc) processes, validation methods and best practices
  • Experienced in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and continuous improvement frameworks in factory operations such as value stream mapping, process mapping, 3P etc.
  • Proven technical leadership skills, with experience mentoring junior engineers, leading and collaborating with a global technical team
  • Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing and automation systems, with specialized expertise in control systems (PLC/SCADA) technologies for efficient process monitoring and control
  • Proven ability to design and implement advanced automation solutions, including but not limited to robotics, AOI applications, and integration with predictive maintenance systems.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Expertise in system optimization, troubleshooting, and design of experiment (DoE) methodologies.
  • Basic understanding of network architecture and cybersecurity in industrial environments.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership skills, with experience mentoring junior engineers or leading a technical team.
  • Expertise in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and continuous improvement framework will be a plus.
  • Knowledge in MES, ERP integration will be a plus.
