Job description
Photographer & Content Creator

We are seeking a dedicated Photographer & Content Creator to capture the heart of Tzu Chi’s humanitarian efforts through impactful photography and authentic visual storytelling. This role focuses on photographing events and human-interest stories that reflect the compassion and connection at the core of our work. As part of our in-house media & storytelling team, you’ll also support short‑form video content creation for social media platforms. If you have a strong eye for detail, a passion for people‑focused work, and a steady presence behind the lens, we welcome you to help bring our mission to life.

Job Descriptions
  1. Photography & Visual Storytelling
    • Participate in content strategy and assignment planning, contributing ideas for photo coverage, storytelling angles, and content formats.
    • Attend and document events, activities, and human-interest stories across Tzu Chi’s service centres through compelling photography.
    • Capture meaningful, people‑focused images that support storytelling aligned with Tzu Chi’s mission and values.
    • Collaborate with writers, editors, and videographers to develop cohesive multimedia content packages.
    • Post‑process images with attention to technical quality and narrative clarity, including captioning and metadata tagging.
    • Ensure timely and accurate submission of images following established naming and filing protocols.
  2. Image & Content Archiving
    • Organise and maintain a clear, easy‑to‑access archive of all photos from staff and volunteers.
    • Review volunteer‑submitted photos carefully to ensure they meet quality and filing standards.
    • Adhere to departmental standards for metadata, tagging, and categorisation.
    • Ensure all content complies with PDPA, consent and copyright standards.
    • Support long‑term documentation efforts by maintaining high‑quality records of key activities and milestones.
  3. Short‑Form Video & Social Content
    • Support the production of simple short‑form videos (e.g. behind‑the‑scenes, volunteer features, event snippets) when needed.
    • Assist with filming and basic editing using mobile or mirrorless setups and accessible editing tools (e.g. CapCut, Adobe Premiere).
    • Contribute to digital storytelling efforts on platforms such as YouTube Shorts and TikTok under the editorial direction.
    • Ensure all visual content aligns with Tzu Chi’s tone, values, and ethical representation guidelines.
  4. Equipment & Admin Support
    • Maintain photography equipment and accessories, ensuring regular charging, upkeep, and safe storage.
    • Manage and fulfil two types of photo requests from internal departments:
      • A. Provide existing photos from past events, activities, or published materials.
      • B. Coordinate and arrange new photography sessions for events or special projects (e.g. volunteer ID photos), then deliver the final images.
    • Assist in organising shoot logistics to ensure smooth operations and timely content delivery.
    • Oversee image usage requests, securing proper approvals and ensuring compliance with privacy, copyright, and organisational policies.
  5. Volunteer Engagement & Coordination
    • Work with volunteer photographers and content contributors to support event and story coverage.
    • Prepare pre‑shoot briefings, assign tasks, and follow up post‑event to ensure smooth collaboration.
    • Maintain clear communication and a positive working relationship with media volunteers.
    • Support basic training efforts, such as introductory photography workshops or field guidance, to build volunteer capacity.
Job Requirements
  • Diploma in photography, visual communications, media production, or a related field.

  • Basic knowledge of editing software (e.g. Lightroom, Photoshop, CapCut, Premiere Pro).
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and an understanding of what makes content engaging.
  • Well‑organised, with good file management and archiving habits.
