Job description
Responsibilities
  • Design mechanical components and assemblies for offshore deck machinery using 3D CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar).
  • Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to validate structural integrity and ensure equipment performance under extreme offshore conditions (static, dynamic, fatigue analysis).
  • Prepare detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including project managers, hydraulic engineers, and electrical engineers to ensure design integration and functionality.
  • Conduct design calculations and select appropriate materials based on strength, corrosion resistance, and offshore suitability.
  • Support prototyping, fabrication, and commissioning activities, both in-house and on-site when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with offshore standards and certifications (e.g., DNV, ABS, API, ISO).
  • Review and revise designs based on testing, customer feedback, or quality assurance input.
  • Maintain design records and ensure version control throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in design practices, tools, and standards.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of offshore engineering requirements and equipment functions.
  • Proficient in CAD software and engineering drawing practices.
  • Strong foundation in FEA principles and experience using tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, or similar.
  • Understanding of mechanical systems, load paths, stress analysis, and material behavior.
  • Familiarity with relevant offshore standards (e.g., DNV, ABS).
  • Good communication and documentation skills.
  • Team player with a proactive, problem-solving attitude.
