Overview
The Manager, Partnerships & Patronage plays a key role in advancing SAM's fundraising efforts by managing the museum's Annual Giving Patrons' Programme and supporting major gift cultivation. Working closely with the Assistant Director, the role contributes to building and nurturing meaningful relationships with donors, patrons, and partners. The Manager is responsible for delivering high-quality stewardship, supporting effective fundraising initiatives, and ensuring strong administrative and operational foundations for the Partnerships & Patronage team.
Key Responsibilities
Patrons' Programme & Annual Giving
- Manage and grow SAM's Annual Giving Patrons' Programme.
- Source, cultivate, and steward patrons to support strong retention, renewal, and year-on-year programme development.
- Develop and deliver meaningful hosting and engagement opportunities for existing and prospective patrons.
- Plan and organise annual overseas patron trips to major international art events.
- Leverage personal and institutional networks to expand SAM's patron database.
- Support museum-wide patron cultivation activities and cross-department prospecting efforts.
Major Gifts & Donor Engagement
- Support the Assistant Director in donor research, cultivation activities, and preparation for major gift engagements.
- Assist in developing engagement strategies, cultivation materials, proposals, presentations, and pitches.
- Coordinate inputs across departments to ensure timely preparation of materials required for donor meetings and follow-ups.
- Support stewardship efforts by helping track project milestones, coordinating updates, and assisting in relationship-management touchpoints.
- Support the planning and delivery of donor-hosting opportunities and cultivation events that help broaden the museum's donor pipeline.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of effective fundraising events and initiatives led by the Partnerships & Patronage team.
Administration, Compliance & Reporting
- Manage essential administrative tasks, including weekly reports, meeting documents, contracts, appreciation letters, eDMs, impact reports, and quotations.
- Maintain and update donor databases, CRM records, online donation portals and the Museum's honour roll.
- Ensure compliance with procurement and financial procedures, including submitting required documentation for processing incoming funds and issuing tax-deductible receipts.
- Execute other ad hoc duties to further the goals of Partnerships & Patronage team where appropriate.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, arts or any other related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in fundraising, marketing and communications or business development within museums, cultural institutions, art galleries or other related companies, with a proven track record of success.
- A genuine interest in the arts, and ideally some knowledge of the art world, its key players, and trends.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex and diverse relationships and the proven ability to operate effectively with multiple stakeholders, both internally and externally.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and persuasive manner.
- A team player who values collaboration, but also enjoys working independently.
- Proactive and accountable, taking initiative and ownership in driving impact.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency in MS Office and experience with design tools and CRM databases is preferred.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends, if required.
