Job summary

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong financial acumen, be proactive in process improvements, and have at least five years of relevant finance experience. Job description
JOB SUMMARY

The Manager Finance and Business Partner (FBP), APEC serves as the primary finance business partner for the following disciplines and not limited to – Information Technology and Learning and Development - for APEC. Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance and Business Partner, the Manager will be the primary point of contact for all questions, analytical requests, reporting and information relating to finance matters impacting the discipline and regional performances.

This position is consultative in nature and will serve as the business partner in global and regional discipline initiatives. Key deliverables includes holistic business reviews, business planning, financial analysis / modeling, and recommendations to key stakeholders in the organization.

The position will work closely with the discipline leadership teams, financial reporting, entity accounting, compliance, Human Resources and project teams in MI Headquarters and the APEC.

CANDIDATE PROFILE
Experience, Attributes, and Knowledge
  • Strong business and critical thinking skills and financial acumen with proven analytical and problem-solving experience. Demonstrated aptitude to consult and diagnose issues, problem solve and implement plans to drive solutions
  • Strong communication skills. Ability to articulate operating and financial results concisely to peers and senior leaders within and outside of the Finance organization. Capability to lead and influence senior executives around business issues.
  • Maintains positive business climate while cultivating a fast-paced, high-growth environment that effectively balances entrepreneurial creativity, in which individuals are strong performers who are given clear direction and goals and held accountable for achieving them.
  • Strong computer skills required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, and Peoplesoft Financial Application is highly preferred. Familiarity with Marriott International back‑office systems (PeopleSoft Accounting, Micros Point‑of‑Sales, Birchstreet, Materials Control) a plus.
  • Excellent skills in very complex analytic problem solving, strategic planning, program development, project management, change management and group process. Ability to organize large volumes of data to create a synthesized, meaningful analysis.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and effective in prioritizing work and following through on commitments.
  • Self‑starter with strong tendency toward pro‑active process improvement.
  • Demonstrates exceptional organizational and prioritization skills; high performance levels under tight deadlines
  • Good business process skills; ensuring compliance with existing processes and producing quality results

Education and Skills
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Finance and Accounting related fields
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and Marriott International finance and accounting processes
  • Experience managing Headquarter and regional teams and multiple stakeholders across disciplines
  • Ability to handle large volume of data and complex financial models, and summarize to provide recommendation to stakeholders from analytical findings
  • Develop and manage project tracking tools and reports
  • Demonstrated record of managing internal and external projects from inception to successful implementation
  • Ability to align change management and communication strategies with project leaders
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate team members, and elicit work output in a team environment
  • Familiarity with accounting and reporting software is a plus (ie Peoplesoft, PowerBI).
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Multi‑language capabilities considered a plus
  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, equivalent experience or certification
