Job summary

A leading construction firm in Singapore is seeking a Legal Counsel to manage project contracts and provide legal advice on FEED/EPC tenders. The ideal candidate has a law degree, a minimum of 4-6 years of experience in an EPC environment, and familiarity with Southeast Asia's legal regulations. Excellent communication and analytical skills are essential for this role.

Qualifications

Overview

Our Client

My client within the Construction space is looking to hire a Legal Counsel to be based in Singapore.

Responsibilities
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide array of commercial contracts related to FEED and EPC projects.
  • Provide strategic legal advice to business stakeholders on FEED/EPC tenders, associated contractual risks, and related legal matters.
  • Work in close coordination with project teams to support smooth and legally sound project delivery.
  • Identify potential legal risks and propose practical mitigation strategies to relevant stakeholders.
  • Oversee the management of litigation and other contentious issues across the region.
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to internal policies and applicable regulatory frameworks.
  • Contribute to the development of legal policies, templates, and guidance materials to support best-in-class practices.
  • Act as the key liaison with external legal counsel on various matters.
  • Support the creation and implementation of corporate policies and procedures, as assigned by the line manager or relevant authority.
Requirements

To Qualify

  • Possess a Degree in Law. Qualified to practice law in an Asia Pacific jurisdiction
  • Minimum 4 - 6 years post-qualification experience in an EPC environment
  • Familiarity with standard contracts such as FIDIC, PSSCO, REDAS, SIA or PAM
  • Broad-based knowledge in policies and regulations in the Southeast Asia region.
  • Familiarity with Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines and/or Indonesia legal framework will be advantageous
  • Has handled large-scale infrastructure, Building and Plant projects
  • Experience in Public Private Partnership framework for projects
  • Well organized, timely in delivery of work and able to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision
  • A strong team player with good interpersonal, communication and analytical skills
