A leading service provider in energy management seeks a Lead Power Plant Mechanic. This role involves maintaining and troubleshooting diesel-powered generators, supervising team operations, and ensuring safety protocols. Candidates must have a high school diploma and five years of relevant experience, with two in a supervisory role. Ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods is required.

Expected Skills and Competencies:
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to handle multiple tasks at once is required.
• Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices applied in the maintenance and repair of diesel electric generating equipment is required.
• Thorough knowledge of the methods, hazards, and safety precautions related to diesel engines and diesel engine driven electric generators is required.
• Ability to maintain a professional attitude and to work efficiently in a stressful environment is required.
• Working comprehension of electrical distribution, control panels and medium voltage switchgear.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
Preferred:
• Previous experience with remote Polar Logistics operations
• Previous mechanical experience on 1MW and larger diesel engine/generators
• Experience with Caterpillar documentation and software (ET, SIS)
• Training, certification or experience on Caterpillar 3500 / 3600 series engines
• Experience working with remote field generators
Physical and/or Other Requirements:
• Willingness and ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods
• Successful completion of Medical and Dental examinations required by the NSF for deployment to Antarctica
• Successful completion of Federal Background Check required by the NSF
• Must be willing and able to lift and move items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum.
• Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including heavy lifting, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors in extreme cold
• Must participate in community programs, such as “house-mouse” (chores), “daisy-picking” (cleaning-up around the station), recycling efforts & safety objectives.
• Valid Driver’s License issued in the United States
• Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
