Job description
Job Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership for the clinical innovation function, setting direction and priorities to strengthen MedTech Catapult's clinical innovation capabilities and provide value-added contributions to uplift MedTech Catapult's project portfolio.
  • Drive identification and validation of high-priority clinical needs in global markets where necessary, collaborating internally and externally to translate user and clinical insights into key user and design requirements to guide product development towards adoption and commercialisation.
  • Oversee the clinical strategy for MC's projects and execution of clinical studies, where necessary. This may involve leading clinical trial planning, collaborating with the R&D team to define trial objectives and endpoints, clinical trial management, and interfacing with institutional review boards and key opinion leaders.
  • Ensure quality and impact of clinical innovation projects, including adherence to governance, ethics, and regulatory standards i.e. FDA and ICH-GCP.
  • Develop clinical evidence to support product claims for commercialisation by overseeing the analysis and presentation of clinical trial results to stakeholders, ensuring that the clinical evidence is robust and meets necessary scientific and ethical standards.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with healthcare clusters, industry leaders, investors, and regulators to accelerate translational success.
  • Develop MedTech Catapult's leadership for clinical need assessment, clinical deployment, procurement, and integration into healthcare systems.
Requirements
  • PhD or Degree in medicine, biomedical sciences, engineering, or related discipline; postgraduate training in clinical research, innovation, or management is an advantage.
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in clinical innovation and clinical affairs, with demonstrated leadership experience in the design, execution and management of unmet need discovery and clinical trials.
  • Deep understanding of clinical governance, ethics, regulatory frameworks and hospital operations.
  • Proven track record of leading cross-institutional, multidisciplinary innovation programmes or initiatives.
  • Experience in supporting clinical innovation and clinical trials for FDA Class II and Class III medical devices preferred.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, capable of identifying new opportunities to enhance clinical evidence and support business goals.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, KOLs, and external stakeholders.
