Job description

We are looking for a Lead, Category Management (Singapore & Malaysia) to be based in foodpanda Singapore, to drive end-to-end commercial strategy and execution for pandamart across two markets at different stages of maturity.

This role will be reporting into Head, Category Management in the Q-commerce team. The Category Management team oversees the strategic planning, development, and execution of product categories within the foodpanda groceries business. You will wear many hats and meticulously plan to scale the Singapore & Malaysia pandamart business.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the ‘business owner’ across different allocated categories across Singapore and Malaysia, with full accountability for commercial performance and customer outcomes
  • Ownership of team OKRs including key metrics such as Topline, Margins, NMR and shrinkage
  • Develop and execute optimal category strategy, pricing, promotions, range, availability, and cost prices to expand both sales and margin
  • Ensure foodpanda categories has the optimal selection and strategically competitive prices in the market through local and international sourcing
  • Build and manage a strong supplier portfolio to improve cost prices, negotiate term improvement, and ensure a reliable and operationally effective flow of goods
  • Work to develop new sourcing and extended range to ensure we have high quality, good value goods available to our customers year-round
  • Support Private Label and Imports initiatives for Fresh & Grocery categories
  • Employ data-driven decision making to drive the category while working closely with marketing and supply chain to forecast demand and ensure consistent supply
  • Partner with supply chain team to manage inventory levels and wastage
  • Work cross functionally with Product, Supply Chain, Sales Operations and Marketing to deliver strategic projects
  • Conduct regular business reviews & JBPs with key AAA suppliers
  • Leverage data and insights to identify category opportunities, diagnose performance issues and prioritise actions
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure OKRs are met
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of Category Managers across Singapore and Malaysia to ensure excellence in execution, to develop people skills & career development
  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement
Qualifications
  • Around 8 years experience or more in merchandising or buying and Category Management, preferably within e-Commerce, Quick Commerce, Retail or FMCG
  • Proven experience managing complex or multi-market portfolios
  • Knowledge in E-commerce is a plus
  • Strong commercial acumen with track record of driving both growth and profitability
  • Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills, internally and externally
  • Ability to work autonomously in a highly demanding and often ambiguous environment, with strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills
  • Expertise in interpreting data and providing strategic recommendations
  • Fluency in English (our corporate language)Efficiency in using Google Workspace is a plus while mastery in using Microsoft Office is preferred
