Role Purpose

The Lead AI Engineer / AI Architect is an advanced-level position within the Advanced Analytics job family. This role involves managing the lifecycle of AI solutions, defining technical product strategies, managing a portfolio of AI services, and driving innovation in AI technologies.

How will you contribute to the success of DHL?

Accountability: Define the design and oversee implementation of AI platforms, services and solutions, ensuring alignment with DHL's technology platforms and business objectives.

Leadership: Provide strategic direction and technical leadership in AI and machine learning technologies, guiding the integration of these solutions into business systems.

Execution: Drive the development and deployment of scalable AI applications, including generative AI and advanced analytics, to enhance logistics and operational efficiency; hands‑on POC of new technology feasibility.

Collaboration: Build effective relationships with stakeholders, manage AI project portfolios, and ensure the successful integration of AI solutions within the organization.

Entrepreneurship: Proactively share expert knowledge with team, peers, stakeholders, and wide DHL community; identify and bring new technologies/methods.

Vendor management: Manage vendor relationships, evaluating and negotiating AI solutions that align with business requirements.

Do you have what it takes?

• Advanced degree or equivalent experience in: Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems.
• 10+ years of experience in Data Analytics, 5+ years of experience in Solution Architecture, Machine Learning Ops, 2+ years of experience in Generative AI Professional Certification in Agile (preferable).
• Proven experience in delivering ML and AI solutions with business impact and system integration.
• Expertise in AI architecture design, machine learning operations, model deployment, and system integration.
• Hands‑on experience with AI service and Generative AI/LLM frameworks such as Azure AI, GCP AI, OpenAI, GPT‑based systems, Hugging Face and the like.
• Strong knowledge of machine learning models (e.g., regression, decision trees, neural networks) and deployment pipelines.
• Advanced programming skills in Python for data transformation, model training, and API services.
• Advanced skills in SQL programming and schema architecture.
• Experience with distributed platforms, cloud‑based solutions (Azure/GCP), service‑oriented architectures (SOAP and REST), and SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Experience with architecting solutions with high availability and high scalability.
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker), orchestration (Airflow), and MLOps frameworks (e.g., MLFlow, Kubeflow).
• Familiarity in web technologies: Spring MVC, Angular JS, Servlets, HTML, XML, JavaScript, CSS, jQuery, Bootstrap.
