The Opportunity

Based in Singapore, you will be an integral part of the Private Capital team with a focus on supporting direct investments & opportunities in Japan and South Korea. You will play a key role in supporting senior investment professionals in analyzing potential investment opportunities and executing transactions in Asia Pacific, particularly in Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia. You will also be involved with monitoring the performance of existing investments and working with portfolio company management teams to craft strategy and implement value-enhancing initiatives. The Investment Associate will contribute to a team culture where multiple investment groups will collaborate to effectively cover the market.

In your role, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with a team of professionals including colleagues and teams based in Singapore, India, Hong Kong Toronto and London as well as outside professionals such as management teams of our assets, investment bankers, consultants, board directors and lawyers.

Key work outputs and accountabilities

Valuation Creation and Strategic Relationships:

  • Support the development of the portfolio value creation capabilities and initiatives which may include
    • Playbooks for portfolio company value creation
    • Introductions for portfolio companies to our networks
    • Contribute to the creation of a sustainable and differentiating value creation capability
  • Work with the senior team members to manage our relationship activities to build on TVG’s points of differentiation in the market
  • Support the build of TVG Global Advisory Network that functions both as a key external differentiator and as an internal resource for both origination and strategic information

Performance Reporting and Portfolio Construction:

  • Work with the TVG broader team to prepare high-quality reports for the TVG Senior team, CIO-led committees and the OTPP Board
  • Analyse and forecast the performance and capital requirements of existing and potential assets
  • Support semi-annual valuation processes (mid-year and year-end)
  • Collaborate with TFM, Risk, and Finance on TVG-specific & Fund-wide initiatives
  • Coordinate work to develop TVG strategic plans, annual scorecards and budgets

What you’ll need

  • University graduate preferably in business, economics, finance or related fields
  • Professional qualification (CPA, CFA, CBV) helpful but not required
  • Proven track record of building constructive relationships across organizational boundaries
  • Strong financial modelling, analytical and data management skills. Knowledge of productivity tools (Notion, Airtable, Coda, Asana, SmartSheets, or PowerBI) is an asset
  • Strong project management, facilitation and prioritization skills
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills with a knack for performing in-depth, critical analysis, and an ability to step back and “tell the story”
  • Minimum of three to five years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, consulting, or working in the venture capital or growth equity space.
