A multinational technology group in Singapore seeks an experienced Global Trade & Compliance Legal Counsel. This role involves leading the global compliance framework, advising on regulatory obligations, and providing legal support on cross-border transactions. Ideal candidates will have over 10 years' legal experience, particularly in export controls and economic sanctions, and must possess strong knowledge of GDPR and international compliance. The role requires independent operation with sound judgement in complex matters.

We are partnering with a multinational technology group with growing international operations. As part of its continued global expansion, the organisation is strengthening its legal and compliance capabilities in areas relating to international trade, regulatory risk, and cross-border operations.
Within the Group Legal function, this role focuses on export controls, economic sanctions, and global compliance, while also supporting complex cross-border legal matters. The role works closely with senior legal leadership and regional stakeholders, and has regular interaction with overseas legal teams and external counsel.
Lead and enhance the organisation’s global compliance framework, with a strong emphasis on export controls, economic sanctions, and international trade regulations
Advise business and management teams on compliance obligations across multiple jurisdictions
Establish and maintain compliance monitoring, escalation, and early-warning mechanisms
Support and coordinate responses to overseas regulatory inquiries, investigations, and enforcement actions
Provide guidance on data protection and cybersecurity compliance, including GDPR and related regimes
Provide legal support on cross-border transactions and strategic initiatives, including overseas M&A, joint ventures, strategic partnerships, IP licensing, and global financing arrangements
Lead or support multi-jurisdictional negotiations involving internal stakeholders and external counsel
Identify and manage legal and commercial risks arising from international business activities
Act as a trusted legal advisor to regional and global business stakeholders
Work closely with overseas legal colleagues
Contribute to the standardisation and optimisation of global legal policies, processes, and templates
10+ years of legal experience, ideally with a mix of law firm and in-house exposure
Strong, hands-on experience in export controls and economic sanctions is mandatory
Solid working knowledge of GDPR and international compliance frameworks
Proven experience handling cross-border legal matters and working with overseas stakeholders
Able to operate independently with sound judgement in complex and sensitive situations
Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB or equivalent)
