Position Summary
A Construction Foreman oversees the day-to-day operations of a construction site, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and complies with safety regulations. They supervise and lead the crew, coordinate activities, and act as the point of contact between site workers and higher-level management.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Supervision: Supervise, direct, and manage construction workers, providing clear instructions, delegating tasks, training new workers, and maintaining productivity on site.
- Project Coordination: Collaborate with site manager, project manager, and other team members to ensure efficient daily operations, monitor adherence to specifications, schedule, budget, and coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and stakeholders for timely delivery of materials and equipment.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce safety rules and regulations, conduct regular safety inspections, implement corrective measures, ensure proper PPE usage, and maintain site safety protocols.
- Quality Control: Inspect all aspects of the construction process, identify and address issues, errors, or defects, correct before proceeding, and work with project manager to address quality concerns and ensure compliance with building codes.
- Material and Equipment Management: Ensure materials, tools, and equipment are available on site, monitor inventory, report material needs, supervise proper use and maintenance of equipment and machinery.
- Schedule and Productivity Management: Ensure tasks are completed according to timeline and work schedules, track progress, identify delays, take corrective actions, coordinate with other trades and workers for smooth operations.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of daily activities, materials used, workforce attendance, safety checks, report significant issues, delays, or changes to project manager, document incidents or accidents, and follow reporting protocols.
- Problem-Solving & Issue Resolution: Address any on-site issues related to work quality, delays, safety concerns, or material shortages, provide solutions, and ensure work can continue without disruption.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a construction foreman or similar supervisory role.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction methods, blueprints, materials, and building codes.
- Leadership Skills: Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team of workers.
- Problem-Solving: Quick decision-making to resolve issues during the construction process.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with workers, subcontractors, and management.
- Time Management: Organize work tasks efficiently, manage time well, and meet deadlines.
- Attention to Detail: High level of attention to ensure work meets quality and safety standards.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in various weather conditions, standing or walking for long hours, lift heavy objects, engage in physical tasks as required on site, perform inspections of the construction site and identify potential safety hazards or issues with the work.
