Job summary

What the role is:

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore’s raison d’etre is to develop the air hub and aviation industry in Singapore, expanding Singapore’s links to the rest of the world. We enable opportunities through aviation, making connections, opening doors and enabling choices in people’s lives.
The Safety Regulation Group’s (SRG) mission is to provide safety oversight over civil aviation operations in Singapore and on Singapore aircraft operations outside Singapore, protect travelling public and people, property on the ground, and ensure the sustained development of the air hub and the aviation industry. As a member of the SRG of CAAS, you will be responsible for protecting the safety of the travelling public, and for providing the foundation of safety for the sustained development of the air hub and aviation industry.

What you will be working on:

You will be responsible for the safety oversight of Singapore air operators, flight crew and general aviation operations. Your contributions to the development of safety standards and regulations, as well as research into key developments in flight operations, will ensure that our regulations and safety oversight functions deliver the highest standards of safety.

Your duties will include the approval and surveillance of Singapore and foreign air operators, aviation training organisations, flight simulation training devices and flight crew, to ensure continued compliance with safety regulations. You will also assess the safety management systems of air operators, oversee the safety performance of the industry, and play an active role in the promotion of a positive safety culture. Your expertise will also be called on for investigations into aviation incidents and accidents. Your contribution to aviation will extend beyond Singapore, with opportunities to work with international partners and safety experts.

What we are looking for:
  • Possess a valid Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) preferably with an endorsed Flight Instructor Rating, and / or held flight operations management appointment with an established air operator.
  • At least 5,000 hours of air transport pilot experience on civil transport aircraft or equivalent military type aircraft.
  • Preferably with experience in civil aviation management and operations or regulatory work, or in pilot training.
  • RSAF officers with relevant experience in operational military flying and have held key appointments like commander of an operational unit.
  • Possess a strong sense of purpose and drive to contribute to the development of aviation safety.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
