Description
The Field Service Engineer - Grid Integration leads all on-site activities of a project to assure cost-effective execution of project deliverables in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, schedule, and safety requirements during the start-up, construction and/or erection, commissioning, maintenance phases.
You will plan project on-site activities with the Project Manager, including necessary local resources, equipment and milestones. You will coordinate agreement between the customer and external resources on construction targets, health and safety requirements, site organization and policy, site coordination and monitoring, from receiving the assigned site area from the customer or Project Manager to handing over to the end customer on completion day, ensuring the successful execution of start-up, construction, erection, testing and commissioning activities in alignment with contract specifications, quality standards, schedule, and safety requirements.
You will serve as a project representative by building and maintaining effective relationships with customers and other local organizations such as authorities, banks and suppliers to secure active support of field activities.
You will ensure a detailed and up-to-date construction Health & Safety (HSE) plan is in place for each work package, compliant with the Hitachi Energy HSE plan, ensure all on-site resources are properly trained on the company health, safety and environment policy, and promote health and safety considerations to project partners. You are empowered to suspend any activities on site in case of HSE violations and to take necessary steps to protect employees and others on site.
You will ensure correct handling, storage and installation of Hitachi Energy-delivered equipment, coordinating on-site storage as well as shipment logistics to secure timely site delivery of equipment and material.
You will manage the on-site sub-contractors hired by Hitachi Energy to ensure quality and progress meet delivery dates and agreed standards.
You will control project cost for the site work, monitor actual spend against forecast and estimate final costs, manage petty cash, and have delegated authority for local purchasing within agreed limits.
You will ensure documentation is updated as necessary, maintain the document handling system, and use the latest revisions for construction work on site.
You will ensure, with HR support, that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled and directed; guide, motivate and develop direct and indirect reports within HR policies; coordinate local accommodation, site facilities, office equipment, and petty cash.
You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines.

You hold a diploma or bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
Minimum 5 years in service experience in the power sectors with focus on 66 kV and above transmission networks; 5 to 8 years in service experience in the power sectors.
Sound knowledge of and hands-on experience in servicing, maintaining, commissioning and repairing of insert-specific products and industry/sector.
Good understanding of transmission regulations and current H&S legislation.
Leadership skills to lead a project site team and customer interaction.
Proven leadership skills with a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach and strong communication skills.
Proficiency in English communication.
