Job description
The Role

As part of our Operations team, the Fabrication Supervisor is responsible for the overall success of the department including: supervision, coordination, planning and monitoring the day-to-day activities of the employees in the Fabrication Department. The incumbent will be responsible for the day to day operations of the CPD fabrication main line, offline and subsea weld shop. Job holder will take responsibility for the production targets, quality of work and to take charge of all departmental training requirements.

Key responsibilities
  • Accountable for the Welding/Fabrication Department’s productivity, quality, and efficiency by measuring/monitoring performance and requesting additional resources such as personnel, tools, equipment, etc.
  • Accountable for scheduled vs. actual work to ensure that targets are met and assigns/adjusts schedules and/or personnel to balance and expedite work.
  • Accountable for planning and ensuring weld consumable stock levels are at required levels to meet production demands.
  • Plans with projects and logistics to ensure all materials are delivered on time for production.
  • Liaise with Project Engineers and provide feedback on the work in the department.
  • Understand WPS and the importance of essential variables for the process mentioned in the WPS fully as per ASME Sec IX, API 1104.
  • Attend and participate in weekly toolbox talks, Safety and Quality meetings.
  • Co-ordinate with Quality Control and ensure that the desired quality level is achieved and maintained.
  • Work directly with the Senior Welding Engineer and QC Engineer during WPS/PQR, to test various processes and procedures.
  • Work directly with Senior Welding Engineer to assess and recommend welders for further training.
  • Relief duties of department supervisors, when required by taking direct control of the CPD line and Subsea weld shop.
  • Drive good housekeeping practices and involve supervisors, team leaders and charge hands to take collective responsibility for their respective departments.
  • Attend production meetings as required to provide updates and take action on upcoming work.
  • Attend and participate in the monthly EHS and Quality meeting.
  • Ensure that all machines, tooling and equipment are maintained and in good working order.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper employee training is in place and documented.
  • Works with Human Resources to select, interview and hire personnel.
  • Conduct appraisals for direct reports, as and when required.
  • Works with HR to resolve personnel problems by investigating issues and identifying solutions.
  • Takes corrective action such as progressive disciplinary action and/or termination (with direct authority and HR’s approvals).
  • Applies and enforces company policies, programs, rules/regulations.
  • Accept and perform any additional work related instructions/activities, to the best of his ability, as determined by the department Supervisor/Manager.
  • Comply with OSI Quality Management System, OSI HS&E policy and requirements.
Requirements
  • More than 10 years of experience as Welding Supervisor with thorough knowledge of weld symbols, and ability to read fabrication and machining drawings.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of MS – Excel, MS – Word.
  • Familiarity with SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, GTAW & SAW welding processes.
  • Familiarity in welding of AISI 4130 and AISI 8630, F22 and X80 material.
  • Ability to mentor and train welders.
  • Possess solid analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Able to perform independently and also as part of a team.
  • High ability to adapt to changes & work under pressure as well as tight timelines.
  • High level of commitment to achieve results, collaborates effectively towards achieving the agreed targets.
  • Effective written & verbal communication as well as presentation skills.
