Responsibilities

The Assistant Export Control Manager will report to the Lead, Risk & Governance. You will support and drive the governance of defence exports and technology policies, in accordance with the Singapore Customs Act, Regulations of Imports and Export Act, Strategic Goods (Control) Act and international export control regulatory requirements. The role is responsible for evaluating exported/imported systems and technologies to assess transfer implications, with consideration of evolving strategic developments and non-proliferation regulations. Additionally, this role requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders and external agencies and ensuring adherence to all import/export requirements under current export control legislation.

  • Manage and monitor import/export policies, procedures and best practices to ensure compliance with import/export requirements, in accordance with Singapore Customs Act and in particular, U.S. Export Control Regulations
  • Provide support and address queries related to end-user undertakings
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of local and international trade laws and regulations, including customs regulations, trade restrictions, and export controls
  • Oversee and provide guidance to internal stakeholders on regulatory changes and compliance matters, such as adherence to the provisos or license conditions for export activities, international visitors' clearance, participation in international exhibitions etc
  • Develop and establish best practices for clear oversight of all export-controlled items, with accurate documentation of their acquisition, use, disposal etc
  • Responsible for preparing accurate and regulation‑compliant import/export documentation and maintaining comprehensive records to facilitate internal audits and inspections by regulatory bodies
  • Plan, organize and support export compliance training seminars and other initiatives
Requirements
  • At least 5 years' work experience in governance and export controls
  • Proven work experience and knowledge of the Singapore Strategic Good (Control) Act required
  • Experience and knowledge of U.S. Export Control Regulations (ITAR, EAR, etc.) would be a plus
  • Experience related to defence, military or highly regulated tech industries preferred
  • Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation abilities
  • Ability to navigate independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment
  • Strong analytical and strategic planning skills; with the ability to anticipate challenges and proactively develop effective solutions
  • Working location is in Jurong East / Ang Mo Kio
