Role Overview

This is an entry-level professional position within the Student Affairs Department at Duke-NUS Medical School. It offers an excellent opportunity to develop a broad range of competencies essential for a career in student affairs. The role calls for a proactive mindset and a strong commitment to building proficiency in areas such as interpersonal communication, cultural sensitivity, student support and advising, operational planning and programme assessment, evaluation and research.

Responsibilities
  • Student Support: Provide direct support to students, particularly concerning financial aid, residential matters, academic progress and psychosocial well‑being. This involves understanding and addressing the diverse needs of students to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Resilience and Wellness Programmes: Contribute toward planning and implementation of these efforts, including logistics administration and safety management. Collaborate with the Student Affairs team on wellness initiatives and partner with the Student Council and the student body on community service projects and Special Interest Group activities.
  • Personal and Professional Development: Provide administrative support for mentoring programmes, such as the school’s leadership programme, advisory college system and career advising activities. Coordinate individual development plans for students and facilitate students’ personal and professional growth beyond the classroom.
  • Events Management: Manage the end‑to‑end planning and execution of student‑led and institutional events, including logistics, communications, budgeting and stakeholders engagement. Provide guidance to student organisers on event proposals, safety protocols, budgeting and post‑event evaluations.
  • Student Leadership: Support the design, implementation and evaluation of student leadership initiatives, including training workshops, retreats and leadership recognition programmes. Work closely with student leaders to cultivate and advocate leadership competencies and ensure alignment of developmental goals and institutional values.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in any discipline, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Entry‑level candidates or Diploma holders with at least 5 years of relevant experience may also be considered.
  • Proven experience in end‑to‑end event coordination, including vendor management, budgeting, risk assessment and execution of both physical and virtual events.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, faculty, vendors and administrative departments.
  • Possess strong project and logistics management capabilities with an eye for detail, along with creativity and flexibility in event planning and execution.
  • Prior experiences in youth development, project/event management and community service‑learning initiatives are advantageous.
  • Have good command of the English language and effective interpersonal skills.
