The Student Life Office at the School of Computing is dedicated to creating a vibrant and supportive environment for our students. We also provide essential wellness and wellbeing support, pastoral care, and cultivate strong alumni relations.

Role Summary

We seek an Executive/Senior Executive to focus on Student Support and Student Life. The role blends case management and wellbeing with the design and engagement with student groups and events administration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a first point of contact for students experiencing personal, emotional, or social difficulties.
  • Triage student cases, provide appropriate support, and escalated to relevant internal/external services for timely support.
  • Provide advice, monitor and follow up to ensure resolution and continuity of care to support students by setting up meetings, maintaining regular contact, and checking on their well‑being.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential records of student interactions and case progress using case management systems.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on student support and wellbeing for effective service delivery, including working with student leaders/groups on mental health awareness initiatives.
  • Assist the administration division in handling student and staff‑related incidents and crises, ensuring appropriate actions in emergencies affecting students.
  • Gather feedback and data to assess service quality and identify trends in student needs; propose improvements to processes and offerings.
  • Organise student life activities that promote well‑being to enhance student wellness (e.g. mental health awareness, stress reduction, peer support).
Student Life and Engagement
  • Serve as the primary liaison for student groups (guidance, administration, and compliance).
  • Support student‑led initiatives and events, including budget oversight, logistics, and promotional support.
  • Develop integration initiatives for international students (settling‑in sessions, cultural exchange, practical living workshops).
  • Monitor and evaluate student engagement data and provide regular reports and insights.
Other Duties
  • Support school‑wide and Student Life events (orientation, wellness campaigns, graduation‐related engagement).
  • Participate in special projects as assigned; assist with budget monitoring and vendor/logistics coordination for assigned activities.

Qualifications
  • Recognised university degree: Preferably in Education, Social Work, Psychology, or related fields.
  • Experience: At least 3 years’ experience in university student services, guidance and wellness support, including managing sensitive student cases with discretion and empathy.
  • Intrapersonal and communication skills: Excellent skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders; cross‑cultural competence and discretion in handling sensitive matters.
  • Organisational and administrative skills: Capacity to work effectively and collaboratively with team members, and other internal and external stakeholders, while managing multiple priorities.
  • Technical proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365; versatile with social media and basic design tools for outreach materials.
  • Desirable:
    • Experience in event coordination or student leadership development.
    • Familiarity with case management.
    • Mental health first aid or similar training.
