About the Role:

OPIS is seeking an Executive Director who will be responsible for building a global gas team, directing natural gas research, developing analytical products, and enhancing OPIS’ brand in the space via media, conference, and client engagements. This position will also play a key role in stewarding OPIS’ natural gas services and will report to the VP of Energy Markets within OPIS.

You Will:
  • Direct the research and fundamental analysis of North American & European natural gas markets, including supply, demand, storage, pipeline flows, LNG, weather impacts, and regulatory developments.
  • Direct research on the liquefied natural gas (LNG) markets including vessel flows, import/export market dynamics, liquefaction/regasification capacity builds and country-level supply/demand.
  • Lead a global team of gas market analysts with varied experience levels.
  • Work cross‑functionally with the Head of coal market research to align views on future power generation demands.
  • Work collaboratively with the Head of NGLs to develop points of view on the NGL content within the gas producing regions.
  • Collaborate with external clients and internal product managers to create new product offerings in gas market research.
  • Maintain short‑ and long‑term price forecasts and scenario models.
  • Represent OPIS at industry association conferences, media appearances and client engagements.
  • Provide regular and ad hoc market commentary, dashboards, and reports to internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Direct the building of databases to warehouse natural gas fundamentals and infrastructure such as gas processing facilities and pipeline capacities.
  • Lead the design and preparation of content delivery tools that enhance client experience.
  • Oversee the preparation of content, analytical tools, and processes; become the primary interface for clients with the systems development for the upcoming services.
  • Prepare content that positions the service with oil/gas producers, midstream companies, petrochemical manufacturers, and downstream consumers.
You Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance/Accounting, Information Systems Management, Data Science or relevant discipline. Degree in chemical engineering or chemistry preferred.
  • 10+ years’ relevant experience preferred; advanced degrees such as relevant masters’, PhD and post‑doctorate work can be considered in lieu of experience.
  • Experience supervising research teams across various time zones.
  • Knowledge of the natural gas value chain and a proven ability to quickly gain an applied understanding of market dynamics. Experience modeling either gas processing unit operation, LNG liquefaction plants and/or pipeline flow would be pluses.
  • Excellent English communication skills (Verbal and Written) with the ability to clearly communicate complex content.
  • Advanced skills in Python, Excel, PowerPoint, and the manipulation of analytical tools such as databases, spreadsheets, process documenting and business intelligence applications.
  • Direct experience operating and manipulating gas market models, RBAC models preferred.
  • Experience/knowledge of data visualization applications, data analysis and data modelling.
