Director, Product Management – SME Platform

About the role

Nium operates a real‑time payment network supporting pay‑ins, payouts, FX, and collections across 190+ countries and 100+ currencies. This role powers Nium’s core products as the platform and integration layer, enabling real‑time partner connections and orchestrating transaction flows across geographies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive both product discovery and delivery, validating solutions from multiple angles before execution.
  • Write product specifications, epics, and user stories to guide SME platform changes and collaborate with product/tech teams for feature delivery.
  • Work directly with engineering teams, leveraging knowledge of software development practices and system design to debate solutioning.
  • Continuously improve the SME Platform by staying current on industry trends and staying connected to clients and implementation teams.
  • Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to align and prioritize, keeping customer value as top priority.
  • Serve as a subject‑matter expert and visionary for the SME Platform.
  • Champion a growth mindset, challenge assumptions, ask tough questions, and drive the next phase of growth for Nium’s SME business.
  • Lead a team of PMs and collaborate with Engineering, Ops, and Infrastructure.
  • Build a culture of systems thinking, customer empathy, and operational rigor.
Requirements
  • 12+ years in product management, with at least 5 years leading payment products or payment processing platforms.
  • Deep experience scaling high‑throughput, always‑on transaction systems.
  • Familiarity with integrating payment processors, financial institutions, or bank rails.
  • Excellent cross‑functional leadership with Engineering, Risk, and Ops.
  • Ability to balance speed, safety, and scale in roadmap prioritization.
  • Experience building and mentoring high‑performance product teams.
