Job description
Roles & Responsibilities

MedTech Catapult is a national initiative to accelerate the productisation and commercialisation of high-value MedTech products and to strengthen Singapore’s MedTech innovation ecosystem. The Deputy Director (DD) will play a central role in driving the execution of MedTech Catapult projects, working closely with industry, clinical, and investor partners. Reporting to the Lead, Implementation & Venture Acceleration, the DD will drive (i) execution of MC-supported projects through productisation and market readiness, (ii) venture acceleration of high-potential startups in collaboration with venture capitals and partners, and (iii) support the technology transfer, industry engagements and associated licensing and equity negotiations with MedTech Catapult’s portfolio companies.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct due diligence for pipeline projects/companies including but not limited to IP, competitive and market analysis of the target technologies/products.
  • Engage early-stage pipeline and internal/external stakeholders to enable successful spinoff creation-related activities
  • Work closely with companies and internal teams to translate business opportunities into actionable project proposals/plans with clear commercialisation pathways.
  • Drive implementation and advancement of MC projects towards market readiness, especially in business plan development, market access understanding and fundraising, ensuring timely delivery of technical, regulatory, and commercial milestones.
  • Support venture acceleration programme and activities, including investor engagement, structuring of licensing/equity deals, and partnership development.
  • Contribute to refining MC’s venture acceleration strategy towards successful venture building outcomes.
  • Support portfolio management, monitoring and providing regular updates for internal and management review.
  • Develop a talent network to identify suitable founders/members for new/early-stage ventures

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Bioengineering, Business, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in MedTech/life sciences commercialisation, incubators/accelerators, venture-building, or investment roles.
  • Strong understanding of medical device development cycles and regulatory pathways.
  • Familiarity with venture financing models and experience in licensing/equity negotiations or tech transfer preferred.
  • Strong understanding of intellectual property (IP) and contract law, excellent negotiation and communication skills, experience with IP licensing.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, start-up like environment.
