Position Summary:
The Day Technician is responsible for assisting with the daily operation for some of the auxiliary, non-process-related jobs during the day in a safe and efficient manner. The role includes but is not limited to unloading bulk raw material, carrying out waste management activities on site, transporting materials using forklift and maintaining the site’s 5S.
Functional Responsibilities:
- Unloading bulk raw material into storage tank.
- Carrying out waste management activities on site, including loading of wastewater into isotainers and liaison person for solid/liquid waste collection.
- Taking of water samples for lab analysis and clearance.
- Monitoring and data logging of utilities parameters.
- Ability to drive a forklift for material transport.
- Safe handling of equipment, instruments, tools and materials. Understand the hazards, adhere strictly to risk control measures and utilization of PPE.
- This includes the ability to wear a respirator as required by the task being performed or chemical safety data sheets.
- Perform basic care, housekeeping and maintenance of equipment and work area. Maintain 5S standards.
- Work overtime, including weekends, if needed.
- Assisting in preparing finished goods totes for dispatch, eg. labelling if needed.
- Assisting in escorting ground-keeping, pest control or fire protection contractors in controlled work areas within the premise as they perform their service checks. Complete all training assigned by site management and Milliken. Be part of the Company Emergency Response Team (CERT). Participate in continuous improvement efforts.
- Execute HSE operational assignments as set by site management. Be involved, in a participative or leading role, in site HSE efforts, as designated by site management.
- This may include (not limited to) involvement in BBS, safety committee, incident investigations, emergency responses, safety inspections, risk assessments, and others as deemed necessary by site management for continual improvement of site HSE performance.
Accountabilities:
- Follow work procedures and instructions to ensure safe and efficient execution of all tasks assigned.
- Observe, adjust, and monitor equipment to ensure safety, quality, and efficient operation.
- Document process critical data timely and accurately.
- Communicate operational needs within team and with management.
- Work safely and appropriately handle hazardous chemicals and other hazards around plant.
- Strict compliance to site HSE rules and regulations, and all other requirements of HSE management system, including the Safety Absolutes.
- Understood implications of non-compliances which may include HR disciplinary actions.
Technical Skills/Experience/Background/Traits:
- Hands-on and field experience in manufacturing operations is essential.
- Keyboarding proficiency and general computer, knowledge/experience is required.
- Experience with Microsoft software applications is helpful.
- Able to speak, read and write in English. Good communication skills and having the ability to interact with all levels on site, including with team members, site management and between functions/shifts.
- Promote teamwork by assisting others where and when needed. Good working experience in areas like safety, occupational health, quality, environment, logistics and maintenance.
- Awareness of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, SS651, cGMP, and microbial control practices in manufacturing is an advantage.
- HSE and Quality minded attitude.
Educational Preferences/Requirements:
- Diploma / GCE ‘A’, ‘O’, ‘N’ levels / NITEC / Higher NITEC.
- Possess a forklift driving license.
- Competency in HAZMAT, firefighting and Incident Management is an advantage.
