Job summary

A recruitment agency in Singapore is looking for a skilled SQL Server Data Engineer with extensive experience in managing SQL databases in Azure and AWS. The successful candidate will design and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines, ensure data accuracy, and provide project support by gathering business requirements and managing stakeholder communications. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related fields and at least 5 years of SQL Server experience are essential for this role.

Qualifications

Job description

Job Description:

• Design, deploy, and manage Windows Servers and SQL Server databases in Azure and AWS.
• Develop and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
• Design, build, and optimize ETL/ELT data pipelines, data marts, and data warehouses.
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, security, and governance across all systems.
• Monitor and optimize database performance, including indexing, query tuning, and schema design.
• Implement high availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) solutions.
• Automate data workflows and integrate with CI/CD and DevOps pipelines.
• Support cloud migrations, data warehouse, and lakehouse projects.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database and data pipeline issues.
• Create and maintain technical and operational documentation.
• Collaborate with business users, analysts, vendors, and IT teams to deliver scalable data solutions.
• Lead automation and reporting initiatives to deliver actionable insights.
• Provide production support and participate in incident response and on‑call rotations.

Business Analysis & Project Support

• Gather and analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Identify project risks and propose mitigation strategies.
• Estimate timelines, budgets, and support business case development.
• Manage project execution, scope changes, and stakeholder communication.
• Prepare project documentation, functional specifications, and test plans.
• Lead system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and user training.
• Act as a key support contact to ensure timely issue resolution and continuous improvement.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
• Microsoft SQL Server or Azure Database certification (required)
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a SQL Server Data Engineer or DBA.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2016 or newer) and Azure SQL Database.
• In‑depth knowledge of SQL Server HA/DR technologies.
• Strong expertise in database design, data modeling, and SQL development.
• Proven experience in performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies.
• Experience designing and managing ETL/ELT pipelines and data warehousing solutions.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS).
• Proficiency in T‑SQL and PowerShell scripting for automation and maintenance.
• Familiarity with other databases such as MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB is a plus.
• Snowflake experience is an added advantage.

• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills across infrastructure and data layers.
• Excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in remote or hybrid environments.
• Willingness to support on‑call rotations and critical production issues.
