Job summary

A global automation company is seeking a Customs Trade Compliance Specialist in Singapore. The role includes ensuring compliant deliveries and liaising with customs and government bodies. Candidates should have a degree in Logistics and at least 5 years of relevant experience with trade and customs compliance. Good knowledge of customs tariffs and Microsoft Office is essential.

Qualifications

Role Purpose:
  • The position holders objective is to make sure that physical deliveries happen in a timely & complaint (customs compliance & trade compliance) manner
  • Independently implement all work pertaining to customs and with any other relevant government bodies, taking into account the trade and customs regulations
Major Responsibilities:
  • COO (Country of origin) Handling
    Letter of COO confirmation to customers
    Monthly checking COO for newly created items
    Investigate & feedback on inquiry about COO findings
    Liaising with Chamber of commerce (SCCCI). Yearly renewal of manufacturing license
  • HS Code Classification
    Adhoc user request to classify HS code for non inventorised items meant for immediate deliveries
    HS code classification for new products being created
    Review global alignment on HS code [ among different P+F sites]
  • Licenses & Permits
    Apply SIRIM permits for telecommunication/ radio frequency products. Shipments outbound to Malaysia
    Apply CNB export permits for controlled items falling under CNB scope
    Apply SCDF import permits for controlled items falling under SCDF scope
    Apply IMDA licensing (new application, renewal, dealer license, experimental license)
    Renewal of STP. Ability to liaise with multiple departments (within P+F) and Singapore customs to consolidate the requirements as stated in assessment checklist
    Renewal of KCR license
  • Other Tasks/ Reports
    Liaise with import/ export declaring agent. Investigate/ lend guidance on issues arising at import/ export clearance
    Compliance check for product/ machine transfer [inbound or outbound]. Submission of yearly reports to NEA (RSA report)
    Submission of monthly reports to Singstat
    Responsible for system updates in ERP relating to the necessary scope of work
    Advise on DG battery, LASER, or other controlled goods relating shipments
  • Projects & Improvement Actions Participate in regional or global projects related to trade or customs compliance [like successful implementation of preferential agreements among intercompany shipments]
Requirements:
  • Degree in Logistics or comparable field of study
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience working with trade & customs compliance related roles
  • Prior experience of working closely with Singapore customs, dealing with Singapore government bodies (CNB, SCDF, NEA)
  • Prior experience in dealing with Vietnam, Indonesia customs will be preferable
  • Prior knowledge and experience in import/ export clearance (customs). Sound knowledge on incoterms is a must
  • Good command on customs tariff classification/ knowledge. [Preferably chapters 84, 85, 90]
  • Extensive knowledge on origin of goods and preferential calculations
  • Good knowledge of MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, outlook, access)
