The Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Contract Manager to join our dynamic team. The Contract Manager will be responsible for the full lifecycle management of contracts, from tender and negotiation through to execution and close-out, specifically for our design and build aircraft hangar and other building construction projects. This role requires a deep understanding of construction law, risk management, and the unique challenges of large-scale aviation infrastructure and building construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contract Strategy & Development:
    Develop and implement contract management strategies aligned with project goals and company policies.
    Lead the preparation, review, and negotiation of various contract types, including EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction), Design-Build, Subcontractor Agreements, and Consultant Agreements.
    Ensure all contracts comply with legal requirements, company standards, and industry best practices.
  • Tender & Procurement Support:
    Collaborate with the Business Development and Estimation teams during the tender phase to review RFPs, identify contractual risks, and propose mitigation strategies.
    Assist in drafting and evaluating tender documents from a contractual perspective.
  • Contract Negotiation:
    Lead or support complex contract negotiations with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to achieve favorable terms and conditions while minimizing risk.
    Ensure clear definition of scope, deliverables, payment terms, warranties, and dispute resolution mechanisms.
  • Contract Administration & Performance Monitoring:
    Oversee the day-to-day administration of contracts, including monitoring compliance with terms and conditions, tracking key milestones, and managing change orders.
    Identify and manage potential contractual disputes, claims, and variations, working closely with project teams to resolve issues efficiently.
    Prepare and maintain comprehensive contract documentation, records, and correspondence.
    Monitor contractor/subcontractor performance against contractual obligations and KPIs.
  • Risk Management:
    Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate contractual risks throughout the project lifecycle.
    Develop and implement risk management plans and contingency strategies.
  • Legal & Compliance:
    Stay updated on relevant construction laws, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., FIDIC, NEC, local construction acts).
    Ensure all contractual activities adhere to legal and ethical guidelines.
    Liaise with legal counsel when necessary for complex contractual matters.
  • Stakeholder Management:
    Serve as the primary point of contact for all contractual matters with clients, project teams, and external parties.
    Foster strong working relationships with all stakeholders to facilitate smooth project execution.
  • Reporting:
    Provide regular reports on contract status, performance, risks, and opportunities to senior management.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Law, or a related field. A Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., RICS, PMP, Certified Commercial Contracts Manager) is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in contract management within the construction industry, with significant experience in large-scale, complex design and build projects.
  • Industry Specific Experience: Proven experience in aviation infrastructure, industrial construction, or similar large-span steel structure projects (e.g., aircraft hangars, manufacturing plants, convention centers) is highly preferred.
  • Legal Knowledge: Strong understanding of contract law, commercial terms, and dispute resolution processes. Familiarity with international contract forms (e.g., FIDIC) is an advantage.
