The Chef is responsible for preparing and cooking food according to the restaurant’s menu and quality standards, ensuring food safety compliance, maintaining kitchen hygiene, and supporting smooth kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities
🍳 Food Preparation & Cooking
  • Prepare, cook, and present dishes according to standard recipes and portion sizes.

  • Ensure consistency in taste, quality, and presentation of all food items.

  • Handle food preparation including cutting, marinating, and cooking using appropriate methods.

🧾 Kitchen Operations
  • Plan daily mise-en-place and coordinate cooking schedules.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations.

  • Follow FIFO principles for food storage and stock rotation.

🧼 Hygiene & Safety Compliance
  • Comply with SFA/NEA food hygiene and safety regulations.

  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and labeling of food ingredients.

  • Maintain personal hygiene and enforce kitchen sanitation standards.

📦 Inventory & Cost Control
  • Assist in stock checking and reporting low inventory to management.

  • Minimize food wastage and control portion costs.

  • Support receiving and proper storage of supplies.

👥 Teamwork & Training
  • Work closely with other chefs and kitchen assistants.

  • Guide junior kitchen staff when required.

  • Follow instructions from Head Chef or Kitchen Manager.
