This role blends backend engineering, DevOps, and distributed systems architecture, supporting research and engineering teams in delivering production‑grade, scalable infrastructure.

1. Role Overview

The Backend & DevOps Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining high‑performance, distributed backend systems and automated infrastructure. You will work on microservices, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes environments, and cloud orchestration to ensure reliability, scalability, and security across the AI lab’s core systems.

This is a remote, project‑based opportunity ideal for engineers experienced in modern cloud‑native systems and automation.

2. Key Responsibilities

• Architect and develop high‑performance, fault‑tolerant microservices.

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows, and infrastructure‑as‑code.

• Manage Kubernetes clusters, cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP), and container orchestration.

• Implement monitoring, observability, and security best practices.

• Collaborate with backend and AI teams to optimize performance and reliability.

• Continuously improve automation, deployment speed, and operational efficiency.

3. Ideal Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in backend engineering and/or DevOps roles.

• Hands‑on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP).

• Familiarity with Terraform, Helm, ArgoCD, or GitHub Actions.

• Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, and message queues like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or NATS.

• Strong understanding of monitoring stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK) and CI/CD principles.

Bonus Points

• Experience in AI/ML infrastructure or large‑scale distributed systems.

• Contributions to open‑source DevOps or backend frameworks.

• Knowledge of GitOps, serverless computing, or edge computing.
