Job description
1. Autonomous Fleet Operations Management

Lead and manage end-to-end operations of autonomous bus services across designated sites, ensuring full compliance with operational requirements and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Plan, allocate, and optimize vehicle deployment, factoring in charging schedules, maintenance cycles, and overall fleet lifecycle management.

2. Safety Operator Workforce Management

Oversee the planning and deployment of Safety Operators, ensuring optimal coverage and adherence to safety protocols across all trips.

Manage workforce scheduling, including shift planning, meal breaks, and leave administration, to maintain seamless operational continuity.

3. Fleet Health and Lifecycle Governance

Monitor fleet performance and vehicle health, coordinating with technical teams and vendors to ensure timely maintenance, repairs, and preventive servicing.

Maintain comprehensive records to support data‑driven decisions on asset lifecycle planning, replacements, and performance optimization.

4. Client and Stakeholder Relationship Management

Serve as the primary point of contact for client and passenger escalations, ensuring timely and professional resolution of feedback and service issues.

Foster strong partnerships with vendors, site stakeholders, and service partners to drive operational excellence and client satisfaction.

5. Team Leadership and Development

Provide leadership and direction to site‑level teams, including Safety Operators and support personnel, to ensure high performance and alignment with organisational goals.

Support recruitment, onboarding, and continuous development of team members in collaboration with HQ and vendor partners.

6. Operational Excellence and Compliance

Ensure all site operations are executed in accordance with internal SOPs, regulatory standards, and safety requirements.

Conduct regular audits and quality checks to uphold service reliability, punctuality, and safety benchmarks.

7. Performance Monitoring and Reporting

Leverage fleet management systems and operational dashboards to track KPIs, generate insights, and produce performance reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Analyse operational data to identify trends, support route optimisation, and inform strategic improvements.

8. Contingency and Risk Management

Develop and implement contingency strategies to mitigate service disruptions, including vehicle downtime and manpower shortages.

Lead incident response efforts and ensure timely communication with relevant stakeholders during emergencies.

9. Continuous Improvement and Service Innovation

Champion a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and innovation within the site operations team.

Drive initiatives that enhance service delivery, operational efficiency, and customer experience through structured feedback loops and team engagement.

10. Cross‑Site Support and Special Projects

Provide operational leadership and support to other sites or strategic initiatives as assigned by senior management.

Undertake special assignments and contribute to broader organisational goals beyond day‑to‑day site operations.

11. Documentation and Process Development

Contribute to the development and refinement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for AV remote operations.

Maintain and update operational documentation including incident response protocols, shift handover checklists, and system usage guides.

Support the creation of training materials and competency assessments for new and existing operators.

Ensure accurate and timely logging of operational data and incidents to support audits and performance reviews.

Collaborate with technical and operations teams to document system feedback and improvement suggestions.

Assist in preparing site‑specific playbooks and remote support guidelines for multi‑site operations.

Qualifications and Requirements

1. Education & Certification

  • Nitec, Higher Nitec, and Technical Diploma in Engineering, Transportation, Logistics, or related field.
  • Valid Class 4 Driving Licence and Bus Driving Vocational Licence (BDVL) (preferred).

2. Experience

  • Prior supervisory or team lead experience in transport or tech‑enabled operations.
  • Familiarity with control room protocols.
  • Strong leadership and decision‑making skills, especially under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and coordination abilities across multi‑disciplinary teams.
  • Proficient in incident management, operational reporting, and SOP enforcement.
  • Ability to interpret system alerts and guide response actions effectively.

4. Operational Requirements

  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and be on‑call for incident escalation.
  • Able to manage multi‑site operations and coordinate remote support.
  • Comfortable with conducting audits, training sessions, and performance reviews.
  • Flexible to adapt to evolving technologies and operational procedures.

5. Documentation and Process Development

  • Develop, maintain, and update SOPs, incident response protocols, and operational checklists.
  • Lead the creation of training materials and competency frameworks for site personnel.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of operational data, incidents, and system feedback.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to refine processes and implement improvements.
  • Prepare site‑specific operational playbooks and ensure version control of all documentation.
