Job description

BioCheetah Pte Ltd is a Singapore-based, IMCB A*STAR spin-off biotechnology company focusing on the development of urine-based in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) tests for urological cancer. The company is developing IVD products under industrial quality and regulatory requirements for production and clinical trials. We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Scientist to join us. This position will report to BioCheetah’s Senior Research Scientist in the Technical Team. In this position, you will play a key role in large-scale protein production and quality control that forms a key component of our IVD products and ensuring the proteins are functioning following specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Production of high-quality DNA for usage in protein expression.
  • Manage or perform the expression of proteins of interest in various cell types including E. coli and mammalian cells.
  • Purify protein targets of interest for IVD usage.
  • Analyse results and data for the purified protein targets.
  • Assist BioCheetah’s Senior Research Scientist in R&D work for new diagnostic projects.
  • Prepare and compile data for progress reports, presentations, articles and other supporting documents for the project.
  • Handle necessary administrative paperwork and other documentation needed for project validation and research quality control.
  • To maintain high standards of laboratory housekeeping that may include weekly or monthly re-calibrations and maintenance of laboratory and research equipment and documentation all samples properly labelled and stored.
  • To complete ad hoc duties, as assigned.
Minimum Qualification:
  • Diploma or Degree in Life Sciences, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology or related discipline.
Experience and Skills:
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in R&D working environment and laboratory setting.
  • Preferably experienced in bacterial and mammalian cell culture.
  • Possess technical skills in molecular biology techniques eg. DNA cloning and purification, gel electrophoresis, PCR, sequencing.
  • Proficient in antibody QC and usage in immunoassays with techniques in ELISA, western blot and dot blot.
  • Ability to interpret basic statistical and graphical analysis of data.
  • Ability to maintain quality and safety control standards.
  • Demonstrate accuracy, flexibility, and integrity at work.
  • Strong skills in problem-solving, communication, planning and documentation.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization (planning and scheduling) and operational skills.
  • Possesses high attention to detail, with the ability to create clear and concise technical documentation.
  • Proficient user of basic computer applications for the execution of daily project operations.
  • Have a positive, proactive, can-do attitude.
