Purpose of the Role
The Associate supports the Corporate Banking (CB) team in delivering high-quality credit, execution, and client support. The role combines analytical responsibilities with corporate banking support, ensuring compliance with internal policies, credit standards, and regulatory requirements.
Accountabilities
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Credit Analysis & Execution Support
- Assist in preparing credit proposals, including financial analysis and risk assessment.
- Draft supporting documents such as 1035 memos, annual reviews, and renewals.
- Support drafting of offer letters and loan documentation, coordinating with stakeholders.
- Monitor compliance with credit conditions and portfolio requirements.
Origination Support
- Conduct industry and company research for origination and client pitches.
- Prepare pitch books, meeting materials, and market updates.
- Support client onboarding and KYC reviews.
Portfolio Monitoring
- Track client performance and assess ongoing financial/industry developments.
- Identify early‑warning indicators and escalate issues to senior team members.
- Risk, Compliance & Conduct
- Apply AML, KYC, and risk management policies in daily work.
- Ensure adherence to credit policies, approval standards, and regulatory guidelines.
Skills & Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Finance, accounting, economics or related disciplines.
- Strong analytical and financial modelling skills.
- Understanding of corporate financial statements and credit fundamentals.
- Strong communication and multi‑stakeholder coordination skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
Preferred
- Knowledge of Singapore/APAC markets and banking products (loans, FX, trade, DCM).
- Experience performing financial analysis, credit assessment, or advisory work within regulated financial or professional services.
- Korean language capability is an advantage to support communication with Korean speaking stakeholders.
