Responsibilities
For Non-Japanese Clients
- Promote business activities through advisory services for non-Japanese clients in the APAC region (mainly non-fee based).
- Mainly focus on supporting East Asian clients (Mainland China, Taiwan, Korea) to expand into APAC.
- Support investment activities for Chinese companies from China into ASEAN, provision of APAC market information and thematic approaches such as Chinese OEM/auto finance.
- Create pitch books and proactively promote business activities for clients, collaborating with internal departments such as the Industrial Research Department and sector bankers in the Asia Pacific Corporate Department in Singapore.
- Perform the same activities for Taiwanese clients interested in investing in India from Taiwan.
- Involve in other business promotion activities on an ad‑hoc basis or based on new thematic approaches.
For Japanese Clients
- With Relationship Managers, contribute to business promotion based on client needs, providing fee‑based and non‑fee based solutions such as research/consulting for clients based in Singapore, mainly focusing on Japanese Regional Headquarters companies.
- Formulate and conduct research/consulting projects for JP clients covering APAC.
- Jointly implement a project originated by GSAD HQ for a client aiming to expand their business into Singapore.
Assistant Vice President (AVP)
- Ensure liaison between Relationship Managers in Asia offices and GSAD HQ in Japan.
- Research business‑related information for APAC (principally Southeast Asia and East Asia) and provide business knowledge, implications, and intelligence to clients and internal Mizuho offices and other divisions in the APAC region.
- Provide non‑fee based support and fee‑based advisory projects regarding market entry, corporate strategy, RHQ strategy, sourcing alliance partners, and M&A origination activities based on client needs, under the supervision of the Section Head.
- Proactively develop business alliances between JP‑NJP/NJP‑JP companies.
Vice President (VP)
- Ensure liaison between Relationship Managers in Asia offices and GSAD in Japan.
- Take an active role in knowledge management, coordinating with offices and other divisions in the APAC region, including preparation of specific knowledge products, pitch books and proposals for both clients and internal case studies.
- Lead the formulation and provision of non‑fee based support and/or fee‑based advisory projects regarding market entry, corporate strategy, RHQ strategy, sourcing alliance partners, and M&A origination activities based on client needs.
- Proactively develop business alliances between JP‑NJP/NJP‑JP companies.
- Connect expertise from external partners to projects and initiatives.
- Act as an active team player and mentor to junior staff.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree and at least 4 years of relevant work experience as business consulting or a research analyst (for AVP) / 8 years (for VP) in a sector‑specific or solution speciality area. Related fields of education include business, finance, or economics.
- Experience in advisory work with respect to M&A origination or supporting foreign direct investment for clients such as business matching activities or corporate strategy is preferable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Advanced fluency in English (and/or Chinese) is preferred as there is extensive communication with clients in China.
- Willingness to travel for business around APAC regions (East Asia, Southeast Asia, India, Oceania, and Japan).
