Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Forensic Accountant to join our client in Singapore. The ideal candidate will be a Chartered Accountant (ISCA) or equivalent with 3-5 years of experience in financial analysis, modeling, and valuation, particularly in contentious matters related to quantum of loss and damages. The successful candidate will have a solid foundation in forensic accounting and will be responsible for preparing high-quality written reports and providing key support on complex disputes and financial investigations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the analysis of financial data and modeling for contentious matters, including valuation, quantum of loss, and damage assessments in litigation, arbitration, and other dispute resolution processes.
  • Prepare detailed forensic accounting reports for clients, presenting complex financial findings in a clear, concise, and understandable format.
  • Conduct financial analysis, including the review of financial statements, financial projections, and other relevant financial data to determine the impact of delays, breaches of contract, and other damages in disputes.
  • Collaborate with senior forensic accountants, legal professionals, and industry experts to gather and analyze data, assess damages, and present findings in expert reports and testimony.
  • Prepare financial models and calculations to support claims related to lost profits, financial losses, cost overruns, and other forms of economic damage in contentious matters.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into financial records, identify discrepancies, and provide clarity on financial issues related to disputes.
  • Manage and organize the financial data collection process, ensuring that information is accurately compiled and maintained for legal proceedings.
  • Contribute to client meetings, providing financial insights and assisting with the development of strategies to resolve disputes.
  • Support the preparation of reports for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that all financial calculations and assumptions are well-documented and defensible.
  • Stay updated on relevant accounting, financial, and forensic techniques, industry trends, and regulatory changes to provide high-quality service to clients.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
  • Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent qualification with 3-5 years of experience in forensic accounting, financial analysis, and modeling, ideally in contentious matters such as valuation and quantum of loss.
  • Strong experience in preparing high-quality written reports that clearly present complex financial issues and analyses.
  • Proven ability to perform financial analysis and build financial models for disputes, including those involving damages, lost profits, and economic loss calculations.
  • Expertise in reviewing and analyzing financial statements, business plans, and financial projections to identify financial discrepancies and assess the impact of disputes.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to manage large volumes of financial data and ensure accuracy in financial calculations and reports.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex financial concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working on contentious matters and disputes, with the ability to collaborate with legal teams and other professionals involved in litigation or arbitration.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools commonly used in forensic accounting and financial modeling (e.g., Excel, forensic accounting software).
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to approach financial analysis and disputes strategically and with an eye for detail.
Preferred Experience:
  • Experience in forensic accounting or disputes related to construction, commercial contracts, or corporate finance.
  • Experience in providing support in legal proceedings, including preparation of expert witness testimony and supporting senior professionals in contentious matters.
  • Familiarity with industry standards in forensic accounting and valuation practices.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards affecting forensic accounting, including IFRS, local financial regulations, and the requirements for expert witness reports in litigation.
  • Experience with data analysis and the use of advanced financial modeling techniques to assess the impact of financial issues in disputes.
