Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a seasoned Traffic & Detour Inspector to plan, develop, implement, and monitor traffic management strategies across bridge and infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia. You will ensure safe, efficient vehicle and pedestrian movement, coordinating detours and signaling, while aligning with regulatory standards.

You will conduct traffic studies, assess impacts on road users, and support safety audits, road user protection, and construction interface management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil/transportation engineering.
• Master’s degree desirable.
• Professional Engineering registration preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in traffic engineering and transportation infrastructure projects.
• 5+ years supporting major bridge/highway projects.
• Saudi Arabia or GCC experience highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Temporary Traffic Management Plans (TTMPs) for bridge and infrastructure construction activities.
• Prepare traffic diversion and detour schemes to support phased construction works.
• Review construction staging and identify traffic impacts for bridge erection, road closures, and utility relocations.
• Coordinate traffic management requirements during project planning and construction phases.
• Bridge & Infrastructure Traffic Coordination and phasing plans to maintain network functionality.
• Coordinate lane closures, temporary alignments, and detours for construction operations.
• Review traffic impacts of bridge launching, girder erection, heavy lifting, and major structural works.
• Conduct traffic assessments and analyze construction-related impacts on road users.
• Review traffic volumes, intersection performance, and queue lengths.
• Evaluate alternative detour routes and recommend optimal solutions.
• Support Road Safety Audits and traffic safety inspections.
