The Rail Systems Engineering Manager will provide senior technical leadership across integrated railway systems while maintaining oversight of engineering quality, interfaces, requirements, and systems assurance. The position combines strategic technical decision-making with direct management of engineers and technicians, requiring the ability to resolve complex multidisciplinary challenges with minimal supervision. The manager will help ensure signalling, telecommunications, SCADA, AFC, PSD, and associated rail technologies operate as a coherent and assured system throughout project development and delivery.
The successful candidate will hold a bachelor 's degree in Engineering or an equivalent professional qualification and bring at least 18 years of progressive systems engineering experience within the rail industry. Substantial technical exposure to railway signalling, telecommunications, SCADA, AFC, PSD, and integrated rail architectures is essential. The role requires proven capability in Requirements Management, Interface Management, RAMS, and Systems Assurance, supported by experience on major rail infrastructure programs. Candidates should demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of EN50126, EN50128, and EN50129 and the ability to apply these standards within complex project environments. Extensive progressive experience should be complemented by sound engineering judgment, multidisciplinary leadership capability, and confidence operating independently on high-impact technical matters.
