The Platform Screen Door Engineer will support the Lead PSD in delivering one of the railway 's most safety-critical station systems from design development through installation, testing, commissioning, and handover. The position combines technical assurance with active construction supervision and contractor management. Platform Screen Doors must operate reliably as an integrated part of the wider railway environment. This requires precise coordination with rolling stock, signalling, track, stations, electrical systems, civil works, communications, and train control interfaces. The Engineer will help ensure these dependencies are resolved systematically and that completed PSD assets are safe, compliant, tested, and ready for operational service.
The position requires a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or another closely related discipline. Candidates should have at least 10 years of experience on major civil, railway, transportation, or multidisciplinary infrastructure projects, with demonstrable expertise in Platform Screen Door systems. A strong record in PSD design, installation, delivery, testing, commissioning, and operational integration is essential. The successful candidate should understand the complete Platform Screen Door lifecycle, from supplier design and manufacturing through site installation, system assurance, testing, acceptance, and handover. Experience managing PSD delivery against quality, budget, and contracted schedule requirements is particularly important. Candidates should possess a strong understanding of railway operational requirements, train-platform interfaces, rail safety, and the interaction between PSD systems and rolling stock. Working knowledge of signalling, train control, trackwork, electrical systems, mechanical equipment, communications, and station interfaces is valuable for this multidisciplinary assignment.
