Position Overview: Rolling Stock Engineer - Rail Systems in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia is a specialist Railroad Manufacture opportunity focused on the design review, technical assurance, integration, testing, and acceptance of passenger rolling stock for a complex automated railway program. Parsons is hiring an experienced rail engineer to support rolling stock delivery across at-grade, elevated, and underground sections while maintaining contractual compliance, RAMS performance, system integration, operational readiness, and technical integrity.
The Rolling Stock Engineer will work within the rail systems team to safeguard the technical performance and acceptance of passenger trains operating under automatic operation. Reporting to the Lead Rolling Stock Engineer, the position will review supplier and Design Build contractor submissions, resolve technical issues, manage multidisciplinary interfaces, and verify that rolling stock systems satisfy client requirements and applicable railway standards. The role covers the complete train architecture, including carbody, bogies, propulsion, braking, doors, HVAC, auxiliary power, couplers, gangways, wiring, interiors, and onboard control systems. Successful delivery will depend on close integration with signalling, platform screen doors, telecommunications, traction power, stations, depot facilities, and civil infrastructure.
The position requires a degree, diploma, or professional qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another closely related railway engineering discipline. Candidates should bring at least 12 years of mechanical engineering experience, including substantial technical involvement in rolling stock design and delivery on large, multidisciplinary railway programs. Strong practical knowledge of passenger rolling stock is essential, covering train architecture, carbody structures, bogies, braking, propulsion, HVAC, door systems, auxiliary power, wiring, couplers, gangways, interiors, and associated onboard equipment. The successful candidate should understand railway system integration and the interfaces between rolling stock, signalling, platform screen doors, telecommunications, traction power, depot facilities, and civil infrastructure. Experience reviewing rolling stock supplier designs and assessing compliance with employer or client requirements is important. Candidates should have a strong understanding of RAMS principles and railway approvals together with knowledge of standards including EN 50126, EN 50129, IEC 61133, NFPA 130, UIC 615, UIC 515, EN 12663, and EN 15827. Experience involving Bombardier or Siemens rolling stock platforms is highly desirable. Knowledge of railway interiors and panel systems, rail communication principles, and overhead traction power systems will strengthen the candidate profile. Chartered Engineer status is preferred and will support the technical assurance responsibilities associated with this role. Strong client-facing capability, technical judgment, written reporting, multidisciplinary coordination, and fluent English communication are essential.
