Overview
Senior Manager – District Integration in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, leads the physical and functional integration of a GoA4 driverless rail system within major developer-led districts. The role coordinates stations, viaducts, tunnels, traction substations, ventilation shafts, emergency access, public-realm interfaces, and rail system requirements while ensuring safety, operations, customer experience, and masterplan objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead spatial integration and layout coordination for fixed rail infrastructure including tunnels, elevated viaducts, stations, auxiliary buildings, ventilation shafts, emergency exits, and traction power substations.
- Ensure rail infrastructure fits within tightly constrained developer districts while maintaining operational safety, system performance, maintainability, and masterplan alignment.
- Define, manage, and protect rail rights-of-way, structural zones, operational boundaries, access corridors, and maintenance easements.
- Prevent encroachment from adjacent real estate, utilities, roads, landscaping, public-realm assets, and developer-controlled works.
- Coordinate placement and design of wayside infrastructure such as ventilation shafts, escape stairs, traction substations, service access points, and emergency intervention routes.
- Lead BIM and federated model coordination across civil works, structures, MEP, rail systems, architecture, utilities, roads, landscape, and developer assets.
- Identify spatial clashes early through model reviews and drive practical resolution between rail components, buildings, utilities, public-realm, and district infrastructure.
- Act as the lead technical mediator for interface conflicts involving rail alignment, structures, developer plots, deep utilities, access zones, roads, landscape features, and public-realm elements.
- Establish, maintain, and update interface control documents, boundary matrices, access schedules, ownership records, interface registers, and construction sequencing records.
- Coordinate cross-asset alignment between stations, tunnels, viaducts, ancillary structures, utility networks, district developments, and transport interfaces.
- Ensure Fire Life Safety requirements are embedded into integrated district designs from early planning through detailed design and construction coordination.
- Protect emergency egress routes, smoke-management paths, fire intervention access, evacuation routes, and civil defense requirements where rail assets interface with private or developer-controlled property.
- Ensure Operations and Maintenance needs are fully considered, including safe 24-hour access, heavy equipment routes, replacement component paths, maintenance clearances, and long-term asset access.
- Coordinate customer-experience interfaces between public-realm, station entrances, pedestrian routes, accessible paths, wayfinding, interchange areas, and rail transit environments.
- Support intuitive, step-free, premium passenger movement between developer districts and rail facilities.
- Review technical submissions, drawings, models, design packages, interface proposals, and coordination outputs to confirm they protect rail requirements and urban design intent.
- Work closely with developers, rail systems teams, civil engineers, structural engineers, architects, MEP teams, FLS specialists, O&M representatives, consultants, contractors, and client stakeholders.
- Lead interface workshops, model coordination sessions, clash-resolution meetings, technical reviews, and decision-making forums.
- Track risks, decisions, assumptions, interface dependencies, unresolved clashes, access constraints, and mitigation actions through clear governance records.
- Provide senior reporting on interface progress, district integration risks, design conflicts, approval blockers, operational concerns, and recommended solutions.
- Support a collaborative working environment while firmly protecting the integrity, safety, and maintainability of the rail asset.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, Transportation Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in large-scale rail, transit, metro, urban infrastructure, or complex master-planned development programs.
- Strong background in multidisciplinary interface management across rail assets, developer plots, civil works, structures, MEP, systems, public-realm, utilities, and operations.
- Excellent understanding of rail alignment constraints, structural clearances, tunnel requirements, viaduct interfaces, station planning, auxiliary infrastructure, and spatial needs for GoA4 driverless rail systems.
- Proven ability to manage rail integration within developer-led or mega-project environments where real-estate objectives must be balanced with strict transit system requirements.
- Deep familiarity with BIM coordination workflows, federated model reviews, clash detection, 3D coordination, and modern design coordination software.
- Strong knowledge of Fire Life Safety requirements for rail and transit environments, including NFPA 130 principles, evacuation planning, smoke management, emergency access, and civil defense coordination.
- Practical understanding of Operations and Maintenance requirements for rail assets, including access, replacement routes, maintainability, safety zones, and permanent operational clearances.
- Experience preparing and managing interface control documents, boundary matrices, interface registers, rights-of-way records, access plans, and design coordination trackers.
- Strong ability to resolve conflicts between rail infrastructure, private development, utilities, road networks, landscaping, public-realm, and passenger-movement requirements.
- Exceptional communication and influencing skills with the ability to negotiate firmly while maintaining constructive relationships with developers and project stakeholders.
- Able to lead technical workshops, guide multidisciplinary teams, make practical decisions, and elevate critical risks when required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with a focus on safe, buildable, operationally realistic, and future-ready integration outcomes.
- Experience in Saudi Arabia, GCC rail projects, metro systems, transit-oriented development, or giga-project environments is highly desirable.
