Job summary

Red Sea Global Hospitality is seeking a Kitchen & Laundry Technician to maintain and repair kitchen and laundry equipment across our luxury properties. You will work with the Maintenance Manager, carrying out preventive maintenance, troubleshooting faults, and supporting equipment installations.

The role requires a Diploma or technical certificate in electrical/mechanical fields and 1–2 years of hotel maintenance experience.

The Role

As a Kitchen & Laundry Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of kitchen and laundry equipment within the property. You will ensure that all equipment is operating safely, efficiently, and reliably to support the smooth operation of the hotel's culinary, food and beverage, housekeeping, and laundry departments.

You will work closely with the Kitchen & Laundry Technical Supervisor and operational teams to carry out preventive and corrective maintenance, respond to equipment breakdowns, and help maintain high standards of safety, hygiene, and operational efficiency.

Key Areas of Responsibilities

Please note that the responsibilities outlined below are not exhaustive. Red Sea Global Hospitality employees continuously innovate in caring for the needs of the business, their guests, and their colleagues. As a Kitchen & Laundry Technician, you will need to:

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on kitchen and laundry equipment, including ovens, cooking equipment, dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers, washing machines, dryers, and other related machinery.
• Inspect equipment regularly to identify signs of wear, damage, malfunction, or potential breakdowns.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, gas, water, and other technical faults in kitchen and laundry equipment.
• Carry out repairs and replace defective components, parts, and fittings as required and within approved procedures.
• Assist with the installation, testing, commissioning, and adjustment of new kitchen and laundry equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance activities such as cleaning, lubricating, tightening, adjusting, and calibrating equipment in accordance with manufacturer recommendations.
• Ensure all equipment is operating safely and efficiently and report any major faults or recurring issues to the Kitchen & Laundry Technical Supervisor.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergency maintenance requests to minimize disruption to kitchen, laundry, and hotel operations.
• Conduct functional tests after repairs or maintenance to ensure equipment is safe and ready for use.
• Maintain accurate records of completed preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, and replacement of spare parts.
• Follow approved preventive maintenance schedules and ensure assigned work orders are completed within the required timeframe.
• Assist in maintaining an organized inventory of spare parts, tools, and maintenance materials and report when replacements are required.
• Use tools, testing equipment, and personal protective equipment correctly and safely when performing maintenance activities.
• Ensure all maintenance work complies with property standards, manufacturer guidelines, and applicable health, safety, and environmental requirements.
• Follow proper safety procedures when working with electrical, gas, water, refrigeration, and other technical systems.
• Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping in work areas and ensure that maintenance activities do not compromise food safety or hygiene standards.
• Coordinate with kitchen, laundry, housekeeping, and other operational colleagues when carrying out maintenance work to minimize disruption to daily operations.
• Provide basic technical guidance to operational colleagues on the safe and proper use of kitchen and laundry equipment when required.
• Assist the Technical Supervisor with equipment inspections, testing, calibration, and other maintenance activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, energy efficiency, and operational performance and communicate recommendations to the Technical Supervisor.
• Ensure defective equipment is safely isolated and clearly identified when it cannot be used until repaired.
• Properly handle and dispose of used parts, waste materials, oils, and other maintenance-related materials in accordance with environmental and safety procedures.
• Keep up to date with the operation and maintenance requirements of new kitchen and laundry equipment and technologies.
• Perform any other duties as required to ensure the smooth operation of the Engineering Department and support the needs of the business.
• Maintain documentation and records, ensuring compliance with HACCP audit requirements and engineering operational standards.

Key Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Diploma or Technical/Vocational Certificate in Electrical, Mechanical, Electromechanical, or related field.
• Minimum 1–2 years of engineering/maintenance experience in a hotel or luxury hospitality environment.
• Hands‑on experience in kitchen and/or laundry equipment maintenance and repair.
• Basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, plumbing, and gas systems.
• Good troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Knowledge of health, safety, hygiene, and environmental standards.
• Ability to work shifts, weekends, and respond to emergency maintenance needs.
• Good communication, teamwork, and attention to detail.
