Job summary

The Career Nest in Al Khobar is seeking a Junior Pastry Sous Chef to join our refined kitchen, reporting to the Head Pastry Chef. This role focuses on viennoiserie, plated desserts, and quiet, excellent execution. English fluency is mandatory, and prior pastry leadership in a fine-dining or upscale setting is highly valued.

You will lead daily production, ensure top quality and consistency, mentor junior pastry staff, and uphold FIFO, labeling, hygiene, and cost controls in a busy pastry section.

Qualifications

• Experience: 3–5 years pastry, with 2–3 years as Chef de Partie Pastry or senior pastry cook in a fine-dining/upscale restaurant.
• English fluency is mandatory.
• Technical foundation: viennoiserie, doughs, creams, chocolate work, and fillings; shelf life, storage, and allergen controls.

Responsibilities

• Execute classic and contemporary pastry techniques with precision and presentation.
• Lead and mentor pastry team; maintain discipline during busy services; cover Head Pastry Chef in absence.
• Plan daily production; monitor shelf life; enforce FIFO and labeling standards; manage freezing/defrosting.
• Ensure high standards of taste, texture, and visual appeal; maintain clean, safe workspace and compliance.
• Monitor stock levels, manage portions, and minimize waste while controlling costs.
