Assistant Professor of Bioinformatics (CoM#171225)

Alfaisal University College of Medicine invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Bioinformatics in the Department of Anatomy and Genetics. The position supports the College’s expanding research and postgraduate programs, including the MBS, PhD in Biomedical Sciences, and MD-PhD programs.

We are seeking a scholar with strong expertise in multi-omics data integration, computational genomics, next-generation sequencing analytics, and advanced bioinformatics workflow development. Candidates whose research intersects with microbial and viral genomics, host–pathogen interactions, metabolic disorders, cancer epigenetics, or precision medicine are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will join a growing academic environment with active collaborations across Saudi Arabia and the region. The role includes teaching, mentoring graduate students, supervising thesis research, and contributing to departmental growth in bioinformatics and computational biology.

Job Description
  • Teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in bioinformatics, genomics, and computational biology.
  • Supervise MSc and PhD students and contribute to curriculum development.
  • Conduct independent research in bioinformatics and multi-omics analysis aligned with institutional priorities.
  • Develop computational pipelines and analysis frameworks for genomics, transcriptomics, methylomics, proteomics, and related datasets.
  • Contribute to grant writing, collaborative research, and publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Participate in departmental, college, and university service.

Preffered Qualification
  • PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, Systems Biology, or a closely related field.
  • Strong track record of peer-reviewed publications in Q1 journals.
  • Demonstrated expertise in NGS analytics, including bulk RNA-seq, scATAC-seq, metagenomics, variant calling, and phylogenetics.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, workflow automation tools (Nextflow, Snakemake, Docker), and cloud/HPC computing.
  • Experience in multi-omics integration and computational modeling.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness or student mentorship.
  • Qualification from the western accredited universities will be preferred.
