Job summary

Mekdam Technical Services is seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to lead large oil & gas projects in Qatar, overseeing diverse vendor teams and ensuring successful handover through pre-commissioning and start-up phases.

The role demands strong leadership, planning, and communication across disciplines, with deep knowledge of process design, risk assessment, and safety standards. Travel to sites is expected as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Applied Sciences or Engineering.
• 8 years experience with large-project commissioning in the Oil & Gas industry, incl. 1 year in supervision or oversight of vendor personnel.
• Knowledge of hook-up and commissioning delivery processes and completions walkdowns.
• In-depth knowledge of process design and risk-based evaluation to meet project requirements.
• Experience with LNG industry vendors and related equipment.
• Expert in reading P&IDs, datasheets and general arrangement drawings.

Qualifications*

Bachelors Degree in Applied Sciences or Engineering.

Knowledge and/or Experience:-

• 8 years experience with large-project commissioning in the Oil & Gas Industry, including 1 year of experience in a supervisory role, including acting roles, or oversight of service/vendor personnel.
• Knowledge and experience in discipline Hook-Up and Commissioning delivery processes and associated project phases, familiar with completions walkdowns and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews.
• In depth knowledge of Process design, risk-based evaluation of complex technical issues, ensuring deliverables are compliant with project requirements.
• Knowledge of flow assurance, hydrostatic and nitrogen leak testing, hook-up and commissioning activities.
• Knowledge in performance testing of gas turbine compressors to ensure design specs are met.
• Knowledge of design standards, specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria related to major fabrication, transport, installation, brownfield execution, and hook-up, as applicable to the project scope.
• Experience with Oil & Gas companies, Contractors, or Service Companies.
• Expert in reading P&IDs, Datasheets, General Arrangement drawings and procedures.
• Knowledge in projects execution, engineering, operations, pre-commissioning, commissioning and systems completion.
• Knowledge in compliance with contract requirements including codes and standards, and contract technical specification compliance.
• Experience with vendors operating in the LNG industry, such as compressors, power generation, control systems, topsides, etc.
• Experience working in large scale operating organizations in Operations, Projects, Subsurface, etc.
• Experience in start-up support to Operation.
